Can you lead and inspire vulnerable learners?
The successful candidate will have a leading role in Lewisham Virtual Schools Senior Management team. The core responsibility will be to lead and manage the Key Stage 5 cohort of Lewisham Virtual school.
They will have a proven commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for vulnerable learners.
The key functions of the role will be :
To work directly with Headteachers in schools, Designated Teachers and other key stakeholders to drive up standards of education for Children looked after
Collaborate effectively with partners in social care to ensure that education is a priority in care planning
To lead on transition from Year 11 into Post 16 pathways
To manage the Virtual School Employability offer ensuring all students are able to function as active citizens of their community.
Management of pathways to ensure all students make progress and are able to function)
To manage student voice and participation to improve engagement in employment and training
Assist the Headteacher in shaping the Vision and direction for the School, setting out very high expectations (with a clear focus on pupil achievement) and ensuring that this is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon by all stakeholders.
Assist the Headteacher of Lewisham Virtual School by contributing to the whole school assessment processes, analysing and evaluating data, enabling its use in setting targets and priorities.
Organise, develop and deliver cross service training for school staff, carers and social workers to raise their awareness of the diverse educational needs of looked after Children and dispel myths and stereotypes about their capacity to succeed.

What were looking for
The successful candidate will be able to work in a variety of settings including school and conducting home visits to support a range of vulnerable learners to reach their full educational potential.
They will have experience of successfully managing staff and motivating them to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Experience of supporting young people to meet their educational goals and raising educational attainment is essential as is a passionate commitment to working with a challenging cohort who may have a range of additional educational needs.
Specific experience of working with Looked after Children is desirable but not essential.
A significant number of children in care to Lewisham are placed outside of the authority so a willingness to travel is essential.
You need to be able to demonstrate :
Proven successful experience in the management and improvement of outcomes for a cohort in an education context
Evidence of effective partnership working with a range of agencies
The passion and energy to motivate, inspire and have high aspiration for learning outcomes of our Looked after Children
Empathic understanding of distress associated with mental health difficulties, experienced by both pupils and adults in their lives.
An understanding of how these difficulties can impact access to learning. Recognition of other barriers to learning
