Our International Business Unit is focused on developing new markets for our brands around the world, including Australia, USA, Republic of Ireland, Middle East, South Africa and Canada.

Commercial Finance Analyst

Based in St Albans

Batchelors is now the second biggest brand in Premier Foods, with the QMS&S category forecasted to grow significantly year-

on-year. We’re looking for a commercially astute analyst to support the business as it continues to grow.

This role would suited to a new qualified Finance Analyst looking to move into a highly commercial area with exceptionally fast paced challenge and cross-

functional senior management exposure.


  • Evaluate, manage and influence Premier’s 3rd biggest category, and second largest brand
  • Ensure robust financial control on UKBU Consumer Marketing spend across the entire portfolio
  • Support Brand Finance Director on delivery of top-down Budget model across the UKBU, and shape the Budget process for future years

    Brand Finance :

  • Finance business partner to Category Marketing Director and Commercial Planning Controller
  • Responsible for periodic analysis of branded performance and drivers, with clear and effective communication to senior leadership teams
  • Work closely with Marketing and Commercial Planners to provide challenge, understanding and insight to in-year forecasting process, as well as longer-
  • term budgeting and strategic planning processes

  • Evaluate and sign-off of new and existing product development proposals
  • Build key relationships and drive commercial discussions cross-functionally (from site manufacturing to sales)
  • Champion process improvement and simplification to roll out to the wider Brand Finance team
  • Ad hoc support as required
  • Consumer Marketing :

  • First point of contact for Marketing Director and Brand Finance Director
  • Financial control and governance of UKBU Consumer Marketing spend
  • Ownership of budget setting and brand allocation process
  • Timely periodic reporting and analysis by Brand and spend type
  • Control, support and challenge marketeers on year-to-go spend projections
  • Review of prior year balance sheet accruals
  • Budget :

  • Ownership of brand and category led top-down modelling
  • Co-ordination and management of budget process across finance functions
  • Influence and drive understanding of business-led decisions on the full P&L
  • Support and challenge category teams on full year KPI’s and hurdle rates
  • Work on future years budget project and implementation across finance functions

    Qualifications :

  • Individuals with commercial and / or analytical background will be considered
  • CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified
  • Behaviours & Experience :

  • Ability to challenge appropriately and influence at all levels, using data to provide insights and make suitable recommendations
  • Strong business partnering skills and the ability to build relationships cross-functionally

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional organisation skills and the ability to adapt to an agile environment
  • Ability to adapt communication styles for different levels, individuals and situations
  • Skills :

  • Commercial acumen and understanding of external challenges
  • Strong IT skills, particularly within excel
  • Experience with SAP, Business Objects or other equivalent analytics tools beneficial
