Rapiscan Systems The post holder will establish a measure of suppliers’ ability to perform to Rapiscan requirements and otherwise meet them.
Investigate, analyse and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analysing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.
This candiadte may spend 50% of their time as Supplier Quality Engineer and 50% as Quality Engineer as the varying business needs dictate, so this role requires an individual with a high degree of flexibility.
Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardisation, waste elimination, and continuous improvement Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non conformances Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply Develop long term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas Aide Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials / services following a defined new product development process or engineering change process Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Rapiscan requirements.
Projects may include : process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6 Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events Drive Zero Defect mentality within the supply base Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes Travel to supplier locations to resolve quality problems Assure compliance to all applicable legal requirements pertaining to the environmental aspects and impacts.

Solid experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer in an Engineering Environment (preferably automotive or aerospace) Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100 and ISO14001 standards Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications Strong problem solving skills Strong organizational skills Understanding of project management (experience preferred) Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-
D, DFMEA, PFEMA, PPAP, etc. preferred Be able to function independently of direct supervision Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel abroad Trained External Auditor to ISO9000 and ISO14001 Lead Auditor training is preferred Proficient at interpreting Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Drawings.
Clean driving Licence and own vehicle with business class insurance.
