EDF Energy Nuclear New Build (NNB) is in the process of designing and constructing two new reactors at Hinkley Point C (HPC) in Somerset.
To support the licensing and operation of these reactors, a competent Design Authority is required within the HPC Project to understand the plant design and to develop robust nuclear safety cases.
The purpose of this role is to ensure nuclear safety and maintain design integrity through enacting the role of intelligent customer within the Safety Case Programmes Branch.
This Branch is responsible for the overall development of the HPC safety case, managing the configuration of the HPC safety case and performing some of the detailed technical studies including internal / external hazards, classification and radiation protection.

What does being a great Safety Case Specialist at EDF Energy mean?
The successful candidate will report to the relevant Safety Case Team Leader. This post is required to have a broad understanding of the entire safety case especially those elements that span multiple disciplines.
They will be required to provide advice to the Safety Case Branch Manager, and a range of stakeholders including operations, systems and civils groups across the HPC project regarding safety case compliance.

The role holder will be required to advise the HPC project teams and the Responsible Designer on the development and adequacy of safety case and safety case related deliverables.
