The Mechanical Design Engineer collaborates with a local team or global engineering team to develop and continually improve components and MEMS sensor products.

This process includes design, product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production. Complete all related drawings, documentations and release in internal systems.

General Responsibilities

  • Leverages engineering fundamentals and org to make sound decisions on complex technical issues
  • Detailed understanding of market and implications for business
  • Proactively challenge and drives the organization to deliver improved quality and performance related to engineering design
  • Product Strategy participant and driver
  • Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications)
  • Direct interaction with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
  • Corrosion research and welding characterization & has a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer
  • Advanced knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, molding and forming.
  • Basic knowledge of core manufacturing processes

  • A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.
  • e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Specific Responsibilities

  • Design and development of MEMS sensor products within an inter-disciplinary team, from requirement capture through to high volume manufacture
  • Primary point of contact towards European customers and internal departments for new product development and design change projects
  • Prepare and lead design review sessions to direct and progress design projects
  • Participate and contribute towards team strategy development including product roadmap
  • Guide team members and participate in design and specification reviews
  • Working cross functionally and proactively to ensure that a new design or design change is optimised for manufacturing assembly, supplier manufacturing and cost
  • Planning and executing product validation : ensuring completion, analysis, conclusion and direction
  • Maintaining engineering documentation through engineering change notifications (BOMs, drawings, and specifications)
  • Lead continuous improvement projects involving design methodology, internal processes and procedures
  • Essential Criteria :

  • Third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering (minimum 2 : 1) or equivalent
  • Minimum four years of experience in the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies
  • Experience with 3D modelling packages and drawing preparation
  • Significant evidence of leading innovation, research and problem-solving projects
  • Experience in product prototyping, testing and leading failure analysis
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the confidence to present to internal management and global customers
  • Ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Desirable Criteria :

  • Postgraduate qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience of high-volume manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Advanced knowledge of basic electrical circuits and / or microelectronic assembly
  • Experience in Design-to-Cost and Design-for-Manufacture environment
