Summary

The Electricity System Operator (ESO) Regulation team has a key role to play to ensure that the ESO delivers the greatest value for consumers as the energy system transforms to meet the net zero goals.

We pride ourselves on taking a rigorous, impartial and evidence-based approach to designing and managing the ESO’s regulatory and performance framework and to the policy areas we own related to electricity balancing and system operability.

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of analytical tasks and policy analysis within the team’s main policy and regulatory areas. This includes working both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Present clear, justified recommendations to decisions makers
  • Keep managers appropriately briefed on progress, risks and milestones.
  • Represent Ofgem externally with stakeholders, including the electricity system operator, energy market participants and government departments
  • Build relationships with specific stakeholders, acting as the first point of Ofgem contact for particular areas
  • Develop close links and networks with other teams across Ofgem
