About the Role

This is a hands-on role for an experienced network engineer able to work as part of a team and on a self-starter basis.

This role will be supporting all aspects of the Gamma IP Operational Network across multiple sites and will involve travel, sometimes at short notice.

A strong background in IP networks is required, combined with exposure to both Service Provider, Security and Operational environments.

You’ll Provide technical assistance and expertise across a range of vendor hardware, operating systems & configurations in support of the Gamma Operational IP Network.

Travel between Operational Sites and Data Centres will be a requirement for this role.

There will be a requirement to support change activity and network implementation tasks outside of normal working hours.

About You

Applicants will typically be qualified to degree level in an engineering or related technical discipline and have experience in an operational role within a Service Provider / Network environment.

An essential requirement is to hold a current CCNA or JNCIA qualification and a demonstrable understanding of the processes / tools employed for diagnosing in-service problems

  • You will be a driven and motivated individual with operational experience across both Juniper and Cisco technologies.
  • You’ll have a good understanding of policy / rule configuration and operation and awareness of NextGen security features across both Palo-Alto and Fortinet Firewalls
  • You’ll have previous experience of working within 3rd Party data centre environments, performing hardware / cable installs and ancillary duties.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of supporting and configuring Juniper and Cisco network hardware and operating systems, employing standard service provider technologies.
  • Ideally you’ll have a personal or professional Interest in automation and Python scripting
  • You’ll be comfortable working effectively and accurately when working to multiple competing deadlines
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with a flair for articulating your thinking
  • You’ll be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously
