The Lubricants Portfolio and Strategy team plays a pivotal role in supporting the Lubricants Leadership team and Downstream Segment in developing a competitive strategy, monitoring execution and shaping the portfolio.
The Portfolio & Strategy lead provides portfolio, strategy, and opportunity guidance and support for the CFO and Lubricants Leadership Team.
Typical activities include generation and review of new portfolio opportunities, long-term portfolio optimisation and support of strategy development.
The position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the drivers of Lubricants strategy and portfolio management processes, deal generation, as well as to acquire a high-
level perspective on the company as a whole and how it creates value whilst managing risk.Reporting to the Head of Portfolio & Strategy, the role-
holder is expected to work closely and collaboratively with a number of teams including CLT teams, Regional Finance and Strategy teams, Downstream Commercial Development, M&A, Lubricants and Segment PPR Teams.
Key accountabilities :
Drive central effort in developing and the implementation of strategy in partnership with regional / functional teams to create a clear purpose and direction for the business with a 5-year horizon
Establish / adopt a consistent and efficient set of frameworks and tools to operationalise and monitor strategy and propose interventions as needed
Provide input to and challenge functions and countries to ensure quality of functional strategies and country strategic implementation plans.
Establish link between monthly performance management and alignment to in-year strategic objectives and long-term strategy (Identify lead & lag indicators simple but key value drivers for the business to track)
Lead and project manage interventions to support accelerated strategy execution globally or locally as required e.g. support on Transformation programmes, Growth Strategy initiatives, turnaround CLT / function programmes, etc
Driving the change management and pace both locally and globally while leveraging Segment and Lubricants common best practice and frameworks
Lead long term strategic business planning and portfolio optimisation by providing critical analyses and decision support for better resource allocations
Activate and coordinate capital allocation process in line with best practices and internal processes and requirements
Drive market and competitor intelligence and understanding of competitive position, identifying and articulating long term trends to help inform leadership decisions
Develop and coordinate a quarterly lubricants competitor benchmarking dashboard
Supervise screening the market for the portfolio opportunities (partnerships, JVs, acquisitions), evaluating and selecting the key strategic opportunities, running analysis, modelling & deal valuation
Lead rigorous commercial analysis and build financial and valuation models and business cases in support of key decisions and growth opportunities
Coach and lead CLT (and function) strategy managers team members through strategy development / execution, frameworks, business case development and investment analysis
Maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders in Regions, Functions and the Segment
Essential Education :
Post-graduate Degree (or equal) in a business, finance or analytic-oriented field. MBA is an advantage.
Essential experience and job requirements :
Sound commercial expertise in Business Development, Corporate Development or Planning and Commercial roles. Deal negotiation experience an advantage
Strong background of investment analysis process and economic evaluation methodology, GIAAP
Skilled at leading through complexity, executing projects in multi-stakeholder, multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments, with regional and country-
specific issues and challenges
Good understanding of the fundamentals of the Lubricants business an advantage
Ability to turn analysis into actionable objectives and act with passion and perseverance to achieve desired outcomes
Ability to coach, challenge, and influence effectively
Understanding of financial & valuation and legal deal frameworks concepts. Understanding of corporate reporting beneficial.

This role can be based in the UK, USA, China or Singapore.
