We’re currently recruiting for several Product Security Engineers to work on our site at Barrow-In-Furness.
As a Product Security Engineer, you will have the opportunity to influence a range of dynamic and interesting projects through, design, development and production of the submarine platforms.
You will be supporting the appropriate Delegated Technical Authority (DTA) or Design Authority (DA) to ensure the delivered solutions meet the specified contractual and regulatory requirements and can be operated securely, correctly and safely.
Acting as a focal point for security and information risk matters, you will apply your subject matter expertise and experience to ensure that submarine systems and products are delivered with security considered through the entire development lifecycle and support overall project delivery and performance.
This is fantastic opportunity to be part of Maritime Submarines, which designs, builds, integrates and supports all the Submarine platforms in the Royal Naval fleet.

Your main responsibilities as a Product Security Engineer will involve :
Levels of responsibility will vary depending on your level of skills and experience however the following will be key to these roles :
Providing advice on Product (Information System) Security matters for programmes to Engineering Managers and Technical Authorities as required to internal and external customers
Contributing and influencing development and maintenance of Product Security strategies, policies, guidance and awareness
Gaining sufficient understanding of a system, its concept of use and architectures, provide accurate assessments of a product security threats, potential avenues of attack, and or compliance to standards and best practice
Ensuring that Product Security analysis of a project, system or equipment, is delivered and is managed using recognised risk analysis techniques and documentation
Present risks and proposed controls to internal and external stakeholders, to achieve agreement and buy-in
Represent Product Security at Design Reviews and working groups to ensure that Product Security is appropriately considered at each stage of the design lifecycle
Support the management and planning of specialist activities and work packages and utilising appropriate Product Security tools and applications.
Identifying the need for and supporting Security Testing and vulnerability management activities.
To manage and control the impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability of a system and consider the future effect on technology and its performance against the design intent.
Your skills and qualifications :
A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, IT, Sciences or Maths etc.) or Information Security related or equivalent working experience
Knowledge and demonstrable experience of cyber security activities within a defence, government, engineering or a transferable domain.
Demonstrable experience of presenting technical information and / or engaging with stakeholders.
Strong Knowledge of Information / IT Security activities within the defence sector, or closely linked domain (e.g. JSPs, SCIDA, IS1&2, Standards, RMADS)
Ideally you will have a recognised Cyber Security Qualification (CISSP, CISM, CCP, and CEH) and / or ICT or Information System Qualifications (e.g. ITIL, CCNP)
Membership of Professional Body (e.g. IET, ISC, BCS)
