Purpose of Position

GDUK is engaged in a Reliability Growth Trials (RGT) Program for the AJAX family of vehicles. The RGT Program comprises operation of 9 vehicles from 4 variant designs through simulated Battlefield Missions (BFMs) to identify and correct failure modes.

GDUK is seeking an Ajax Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead all servicing, maintenance and repair activity on the Ajax RGT platforms at Bovington in support of the RGT Program.

The successful candidate will be a key player within a multi-disciplinary, multi-national RGT team who is prepared to lead from the front in a customer focused role.

The individual will be required to lead a diverse team, working across geographical and cultural divides to execute an intensive test program with a challenging schedule.

The RGT Maintenance Manager is responsible and accountable for all servicing, maintenance and repair activities of the trial platforms and support vehicles at the trial site including but not limited to : planning / scheduling of servicing, maintenance and uplift of the vehicles during and between tests, support to Trials Leads, GD Engineering and Manufacturing departments and workshop safety / equipment management.

The RGT Fleet Maintenance Manager will have a direct management role of engineering personnel as well as matrix management role of non-Engineering personnel assigned to the variant trials.


  • Plan, execute and manage the day to day servicing and maintenance of the Trials Platforms
  • Plan, execute and manage the Maintainability verification activities on the Trials Platforms
  • Support the development and execution of the platform uplift plan
  • Support the Trials Leads with the development of internal test plans
  • Coordinate with Army site personnel to manage the servicing, maintenance and repair of the Trial platforms
  • Liaise with the company HSE team and maintain site safety procedures.
  • Manage and enforce safety procedures on site
  • Manage the Site / Workshop facilities and support equipment
  • Education / Experience

  • Sound judgement with the ability to take decisive action and accept responsibility for the outcomes of that action
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work and forge sound relationships with project driven teams
  • Knowledge of military vehicle operation and / or maintenance
  • Broad knowledge of complex vehicle systems
  • Excellent communications & interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to drive tasks to closure
  • Team player with a can do attitude
  • Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant field
  • Experience in leadership / management roles
  • Experience in fleet management roles
