The Viapath Genetics Laboratory is part of the Genetics Centre at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTfT), and the lead laboratory in the London South Genomic Medicine Centre for the Genomics England 100K Genomes project.
The laboratory performs genetic testing as part of the UK Genetic Testing Network (UKGTN) and works collaboratively with other groups such as GSTfT Biomedical Research Centre and the GSTfT Assisted Conception Unit for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis.
We have introduced a wide range of tests using next generation sequencing of custom panels using Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq platforms, and we are one of the leading UK laboratories that are offering diagnostic whole exome sequencing.
In addition, the department has a number of ongoing R&D projects involving the application of NIPD and nanopore sequencing.
We are now recruiting to a Principal Clinical Scientist Deputy Operations Lead post to join the existing management team to manage a sub-
section of the Monogenics laboratory. The post holder will be required to manage an indicated staff set, and will be involved in recruitment, performance management and monitoring annual leave requests in collaboration with managerial colleagues.
The post holder will be jointly responsible with other senior Clinical Scientists for authorising genetics test reports, and ensuring OPMS data from the lab section is generated as required.
Interviews will be held February 26, 2019
