Legal Job Purpose Trade Compliance team develop and implement internal policies that ensure company-wide compliance with US, UK and other international customs and export regulations, download and shipping requirements, and trade laws for As Sophos’s Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager, reporting Sophos’s Head of Regulatory Compliance, you will partner with all levels within Sophos, including the Executive Management Team, to provide clear guidance on the improvement of Sophos’s trade compliance programme.

You will be responsible for researching and analyzing information to develop and implement effective best in class’ compliance policies and procedures to provide Sophos with regulatory direction for the export of security solutions (hardware and software) that contain encryption functionality, and A successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of leadership capability, a deep understanding of Global Trade Management (GTM) and ERP systems with a focus on head-

to-tail process implementation, and strong communication skills, including the ability to build strong working relationships with global business units and departments, such as Legal, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Engineering and Tax.

Main Duties Provide subject matter expertise on U.S. Import Compliance Regulations (19 CFR), U.S. Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 CFR), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) sanctions and policies, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), EU Dual Use Regulation Nr 1334 / 2009, UK Export Control Order 2008, and other country regulations as needed or required.

Audit and evaluate current processes and procedures, prepare and submit required reporting documentation and conduct periodic assessments and monitoring of business units, customs brokers and supply chain service providers to confirm trade compliance policies are implemented appropriately.

Lead, evaluate and make recommendations based on audits and identified risks, including the reassessment of current global trade compliance solutions requirements and sourcing and implementation of replacement global trade compliance (GTM) solution if required.

Monitor global customs regulatory changes, communicate as applicable, and revise compliance policies and procedures in accordance with changing legal framework and business models.

Partner with business units, corporate departments / functions and company divisions to optimize trade facilitation, costs, risk, security and services.

Engage with all the different departments of the company that may have any activity related to import and export operations.

Provide periodic reports to senior management regarding compliance concerns and enhancements, outlining process improvements to meet stated goals and to provide for quick response / higher service levels to our customers, lead the move toward the integration of new and updated technology to meet requirements for supply chain and logistics management.

Develop and maintain classification databases as needed; perform deemed export analysis as needed; and maintain required import and export documents.

Prepare advanced training materials that outline the requirements for Sophos compliance for locations around the world and departments engaged in import and export activities and conduct internal training on export / import compliance.

Support and train staff on regulations, policies and best practices. Interface with government customers or agencies as needed or required, cultivating relations with government and customs entities to encourage communication.

Manage the Trade Compliance team responsible for : Other duties and responsibilities as directed. Skills & Experience To succeed in this role, you will build sound knowledge of the Sophos business in order to be able to identify red flags in operations and prevent violations of customs and export regulations.

You will research all applicable regulations to import and export operations, including the ones applicable to encryption in particular.

You will engage the sales, operations, and finance roles in monitoring actions in order to avoid the company engaging in any commercial activity which is subject to ongoing legal restrictions.

Essential : Demonstrable experience of import / export compliance experience with international responsibilities, effectively driving operations and management compliance in a multinational organization.

Experience with U.S. government regulations (FARS, DFARS, 19 CFR, ITAR, EAR, OFAC, etc.), EU and UK government regulations, and foreign equivalents, in particular those related hardware and software with encryption functionality.

Strong knowledge and working understanding of international trade rules and regulations, including customs and export compliance, process control, internal and external audits : compliance risk analysis, HTS and ECCN classification rules, and experience managing a Global Trade Management (GTM) system and a Denied Party Screening (DPS) program.

Demonstrated success in building and integrating import and export compliance into business operations including, but not limited to, the areas of international logistics, customs documentation, trade agreements, order processing, and shipping procedures.

Strong verbal / written communication skills to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents and present information and train personnel at all levels.

Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at frontline and senior levels, recommending and driving decisions through to final implementation.

Ability to lead and work in cross-functional teams across multiple geographies. Ability to work in a highly dynamic, challenging environment where managing multiple urgent tasks is routine.

Desirable : US Licensed Customs Broker, Certified US Export Compliance Officer® ( CUSECO ), or NCBFAA Certified Import or Export Specialist (CIS or CES) a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade or related field is desired; graduate work and / or other certifications is a plus.

Experience with import / export regulations in other countries (including the export control regulations of China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, and Taiwan) a plus.

Experience in working with a multinational organization in a cross-functional team environment a plus. Knowledge of SAP and Salesforce a plus.
