Strategic nature of role

  • Develops and champions effective commercials for high value, complex bids, for the best outcome for the business unit and in line with customer requirements
  • The complexity of the commercials they manage can be materially bottom line and share price changing for BT Group
  • Drives efficient and profitable growth for business unit Industry Verticals through the provision of commercial recommendations related to specific bids
  • Provides strategic commercial direction to Verticals in order to balance risk with reward for individual bids
  • Drives an increasing win-rate of bids for the Vertical, through competitive and innovative commercials
  • What you'll be doing

    Key Accountabilities / Decisions held

  • Accountable for the commercials of priority high value, complex bids, in order to manage the overall commercial risk of the bid;
  • develops the commercial wrap for the bid and writes the contract commercials; provides commercial finance governance and ensures the bid’s commercials are of a quality that benefits the business unit and is competitive for the customer

  • Leads / inputs into customer facing contract commercial negotiations for highly complex, high value, high risk bids, serving as the point of contact on contractual matters
  • Works directly with customers in understanding TCO and influences in shaping their business case.
  • Accountable for translating the bid P&L into customer pricing and contract pricing schedules.

    £100m), as well as other business unit LT members, to enable informed decisions

  • Accountable for creating innovative commercial constructs and mechanisms for the bid, ensuring business unit profitability and risk mitigation
  • Accountable for handing over contract commercials to the in-life Contract Manager Revenue / scope / scale of role
  • Scale of role - £30m+.Normally running with deals of cc£100m at any one time Size of team / layers
  • People manages lower level commercial finance FTE working on bids for them, potentially over a specific geo

    Business expertise Commercial impact

  • A qualified accountant(up to 10 years PQE) with significant experience of successfully managing and negotiating high value (£50m+), highly complex bids
  • Heavy customer facing experience with senior customer stakeholders
  • Material ve bottom line and / or share price impact if commercial T&Cs, bid P&L and risk management not robust
  • Telecommunication industry knowledge and experience in particular, a solid understanding of products and solutions to interpret what drives cost and price.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the management of commercial risk during a bid cross functionally.
  • Good relevant legal knowledge
  • Provides informal ongoing mentoring and coaching to team members
  • Proactively monitors trends to gain market insights
  • Maintains an affinity for problem solving
  • Possesses strong commercial acumen Stakeholder / Communication skills
  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships, embedding and role modelling collaborative ways of working
  • Manages conflicts of interest well at all levels and possesses strong ethics
