Job description

With a substantial portfolio of waste activity within the financial and professional services sector, ISS wish to appoint a Sector Operations Manager on an initial six-month fixed term contract basis.

You will be dedicated to developing and delivering waste solutions within this key area of our business.

Working with various contract teams, strategic supply chain partners and clients, you will build and develop collaborative relationships which focus on supporting growth and retention through the creation of client value.

Our clients are central to London, Birmingham, and the North. This opportunity is available on a remote basis with a requirement to travel to various sites nationally on occasions.

Key responsibilities

  • Provision of strategic support to ISS contracts developing best practices and facilitating the growth of the waste services offering within the contract
  • Ensuring contracts operate in compliance with statutory legal requirements and ISS OPF standardised processes
  • Maintenance of sector and client performance records ensuring a clear record of client KPI’s and SLA’s in maintained as well as a record of contract training records, asset lists, HSE assessments and compliance reviews
  • Project management of the mobilisation of new contracts, portfolio changes or demobilisation of contracts as required engaging with colleagues and clients to ensure alignment on progress
  • Participation in the development and implementation of innovations and concepts as required
  • Engagement with key suppliers ensuring that delivery of services meet the expectations and requirements of the client
  • Development of contract team competencies and processes related to waste compliance ensuring legal compliance and retention of accreditations
  • Development and training of contract teams in ISS waste processes and procedures ensuring compliant behaviours
  • Attendance at strategic contract reviews with client and / or contractors supporting contract retention and growth
  • Engagement with suppliers to develop service offerings, mobilise, or exit as required
  • Provision of support to the sales team in securing new business
  • Working with the relevant HSE representatives to ensure that a strong and demonstrable safety culture is maintained in the workplace
  • Engagement supply chain management to resolve disputes and evolve capability within the broader ISS business
  • Provision of support to finance colleagues in resolving invoicing queries
  • Development of sector best practice waste models developing in turn case studies and award based recognition
  • Professional and personal competencies / qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate commercial and financial astuteness.
  • There is a need to control and manage large data sets within MS Excel and therefore you will need to be comfortable working with quantitative data and conducting analysis.
  • Confident in presenting to clients and internal teams with strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the waste management industry would be beneficial within the food, manufacturing, commercial or industrial sectors.
  • Passionate about sustainability and environmental factors.
  • Good awareness and understanding of the UK waste legislation are essential to the role.
  • Experience in delivering large mobilisation programmes within the waste sector
  • Experience in delivering programmes of change within the waste sector
  • Experience in solutions development including sales for new or existing client
