Ensuring the inherent security in BT’s architecture and services expected by our customers, and constantly appraising the risk BT faces from the wider connected world, this role assures the protection of BT Group’s brands and reputation as the cyber threat evolves.
This role is responsible for proactively tracking security opex and managing internal strategic vendor relationships, ensuring we know where every pound of security capability opex is spent, and all vendor activity.
You'll have the following responsibilities
You will proactively find, track, optimise and where possible manage, all security capability opex.
You will support the active management of strategic security vendors, ensuring ongoing value, best possible pricing, cohesive usage across BT, whilst establishing deep, mutually beneficial relationships.
You will ensure vendor relationships are managed efficiently, so they feel strongly about their BT relationship, whilst not overburdening anyone in BT with ongoing communication.
You will ensure key vendor decision points are understood, and appropriately road mapped, so that BT always has time to transition away from a vendor, and a contract renewal is a choice.
Establish a tracking mechanism and governance structure for management of security opex, including tracking where savings are made, and money could be re-tasked, year by year.
You will work with the roadmap specialist to support business case tracking against projects and programmes of work.
Ensure value focused delivery, looking beyond the technical, into people, process and service.
You will actively drive and track strategic security architecture deliveries, ensuring projects stay true to budget.
Working with stakeholders from across our business including the Engineering / Development, Architecture and Commercial teams.
You need to be brilliant with people, planning, rolling your sleeves up and getting things done. Above all, you need to be obsessed about customers.
You will ensure the latest vendor trends and capabilities are understood by key stakeholders at appropriate times.
You will establish formal governance and defined process for vendor interactions, avoiding ad-hoc meetings unless absolutely necessary.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Experience in an architectural or delivery role for 3+ years, in a large organisation.
Advanced MS Excel skills
Expert at representing / presenting monetary tracking information to financial & non financial audiences
3+ years stakeholder management & collaboration
Experience in running light-touch architecture governance processes in large organisations
A broad range of business, data, systems, and technology architecture experience
Experience of developing long term cost tracking and management linked to business outcomes
Strong commercial skills include supplier negotiation, cost optimisation.
Experience of producing business cases, gaining approval from senior stakeholders, and ensuring delivery of business benefits
Have worked in a transformation / change environment and be comfortable working with ambiguity
