Job Description

Please note working hours are on a 3 week rotational shift basis :

  • Week 1 Monday-Friday 12pm-8pm
  • Week 2 Monday-Friday 12pm-8pm Saturday 7am-3pm
  • Week 3 Tuesday-Friday 12pm-8pm
  • Purpose, liaise closely with main laboratory and path laboratory technicians and team leaders.
  • To produce all media in a safe and appropriate manner, and in line with standard operating procedures.
  • To ensure the correct use of PPE at all times.
  • To be familiar with COSHH guidelines and working practices within the media laboratory.
  • To follow standard operating procedures and safe working practice to ensure the safety of self and colleagues.
  • To ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
  • Ensure that production work is conducted in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
  • Advise Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the production area of the laboratory.
  • Ensuring that any relevant paperwork related to the production of media is kept up to date.
  • A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
  • Responsible for maintaining some stock inventory.
  • Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department
