Charged with working with the broader CMRM Trading Credit Risk Team in London, Hong Kong and Toronto to understand, analyze and present the counterparty and credit risk associated with the European Wholesale Trading business and to support local CRO for risk requirements.

Responsible for managing the following activities :

  • Credit and transaction adjudication under terms and conditions of signed Delegated Credit Approval Authorities.
  • Measure and understand drivers in counterparty credit risk exposure.
  • Understand and explain wider issues that could impact the risk profile of the trading floor. Examples could include changes to regulation and hence impacts to credit risk capital.
  • Review and perform additional analysis on credits underwritten and presented to the CMRM group by Financial Institutions and Public Sector (FPS) Europe.
  • Work with operational risk to review credit risk excesses for European monitored credits.
  • Performing ongoing portfolio monitoring on European counterparty credits.
  • Update senior management on creditworthy and regulatory breaking news and credit exposures of credits monitored in Europe,
  • Fulfil ISO requirements.

  • Work in a matrix environment with CIBC business leaders and Senior Management in the Europe, UK, and Canada.

  • As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, guidelines and controls.

  • The delegated authority is documented in the incumbent’s Delegated Credit Approval Authorities (DCAA) and is reviewed annually.

  • Strong understanding of Bank, Sovereign, Fund counterparty balance sheet analysis.
  • Minimum 5 years counterparty and credit risk experience preferably with Delegated Limit Authorities and exposure to Bank, Sovereign and Asset Manager adjudication.
  • Good knowledge of markets, traded cash and derivative products and derivative credit risk exposure calculation concepts.
  • Degree educated, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in capital markets activities.
  • Ability to give a pragmatic, risk based decision under pressure. Needs to deal with complex and demanding decisions and interactions.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to a wider audience who may not be subject matter experts.
  • Drive and enthusiasm to enhance regional specific credit risk management to best practice. Ability to work with, and to leverage off, business and infrastructure groups to deliver results

  • This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
