Brief outline of job :

Reporting to the CEO the Group IT Director takes responsibility for all aspects of IT across the company, both strategic and operational.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing an IT Strategy and Roadmap that meets Mulberry’s evolving needs and exploits innovative technologies to drive competitive advantage.

Working with the other Management Board and Leadership Team members, committees and other stakeholders to define and prioritise the key IT requirements and translate these into appropriate IT programmes and projects.

Maintaining and developing an efficient, reliable and secure IT infrastructure and an IT support service that enables the smooth performance of operations throughout the business.

Maintaining and continuously developing effective IT security arrangements. Serves as a leader and innovator for the company's information technology department.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Leading the strategic and operational IT planning to achieve business goals by embracing innovation, prioritising IT initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future IT systems across the organisation
  • Maintain the rolling five year IT Strategy to support Mulberry’s vision
  • Work with the senior management team to assist them in achieving their goals through the development and deployment of IT systems
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
  • Maintain policies and standards for the organisation for acquiring, implementing and operating IT systems
  • Ensure that existing systems and proposed new solutions are flexible and scaleable
  • Maintain an appropriate IT organisational structure that supports the needs of the business
  • Motivate and develop IT team members and supervise IT staff recruitment, development and retention
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance (via KPIs)
  • Manage the Group IT budgets (Opex and Capex) identifying opportunities for appropriate and cost-effective investment in IT systems and resources
  • Manage the relationships with external suppliers
  • Ensure IT security remains the highest priority and maintain knowledge of current risks, threats, vulnerabilities and regulatory requirements relating to the security of data and the integrity of all IT systems
  • Skills and Knowledge :

  • Proven track record of aligning to and supporting Business Strategy
  • Experience of the identification and application of new technologies to drive competitive advantage
  • Experience of supporting and delivering an omnichannel strategy and experience
  • Client service focussed
  • Experience in senior IT management roles with a proven track record of successfully delivering IT business plans
  • Considerable knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting and business operations
  • Good technical understanding of IT systems including databases, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems
  • Specific knowledge and experience of Retail systems (including EPOS), e-commerce platforms, CRM and ideally manufacturing and supply chain systems
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of ERP and Finance systems and large-scale systems implementation projects
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles
  • Proven leadership skills and able to motivate staff to deliver high-quality services in line with set priorities
  • Other :

  • The role could be based in Somerset or London and would need regular travel to both sites as well as occasional international travel
