HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter Here at Serco we have a vacancy for a Community Lead to join our Therapeutic Community Lead Team.
The operational capacity is for prisoners who are serving a range of sentences including; trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving up to life in prison.
Joining our onsite team at this category B prison, you’ll play a key role in making a difference to the lives of our residents.
The key purpose of your role serves to manage the clinical delivery on the Community, to manage the Clinical Team in their therapeutic Roles on the Unit and to also, facilitate and deliver therapy in all the Community therapy group spaces.
You will be responsible for the clinical support and development of your staff team, ensuring that professional development is managed effectively and appropriately.
You will be responsible for Reporting on Community Members progress on the Community, identifying areas of potential issue and risk, and ascertaining, along with your team and Senior Management, suitability to progress on to Therapy on the TC.
You will manage the clinical aspects of the referrals process, in line with clinical colleagues and the Deputy and Clinical Director.
What you need to do the job :
You will be an experienced Community Therapeutic Treatment with some Managerial Experience and a keen awareness of working in a custodial environment or with clients with complex presenting issues.
The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be able to make good use of supervision and line management.
The position requires knowledge of Forensic Psychological & Democratic Therapeutic Community theories, practices & procedures employed within a custodial setting, requiring experience of delivering therapeutic environments or practices, preferably in a Forensic Setting.
The role also requires conducting & overseeing the psychological & emotional treatment & rehabilitative therapeutic approaches which best serve the needs of Community Members, within the multidisciplinary team & complying with institutional policies and procedures.
You must have experience working in a therapeutic environment and to be able to maintain the safety and integrity of that environment.
This is to include being confident in describing the TC model and it is desirable to be sufficiently knowledgeable of TC principles to teach / train other staff in that area.
To communicate complex clinical information in a skilled and sensitive manner including assessment, formulation and treatment plans of Community Members to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary treatment.
To actively work to make accessible and understandable psychotherapy research, theory, formulations and clinical work to colleagues.

To possess a proven record of successful leadership in relation to setting team objectives; with organisational effectiveness, time management, prioritising competing workloads, adhering to tasks deadlines.
To possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be capable of producing written work to the highest academic standards.
To be competent in addressing large groups / audiences, for example in full staff briefings, providing clear and precise information to all.
