Functional Test & Release Analyst, Technology
We’re looking for a Functional Test & Release Analyst to join the Technology team at Penguin Random House, based at our London office.
You will be responsible for conducting day to day test activities. You will report into the Test & Release Manager.
You will manage and co-ordinate the development plans, UAT, regression testing and the release process for our suite of applications;
ensuring the quality of code being released into the live environment is done so with minimal risk to the live operation within the Publishing Systems Centre of Excellence.
You’re Knowledge, Skills that are required for this role : -
Responsible for reviewing development requests, assessing the potential impact and technical & business feasibility.
Analyse the request against any approval criteria and evaluate the cost versus benefit.
Co-ordinate the various development plans ensuring key dates communicated and resources planned.
Work with the BA team, end users and the 3rd party suppliers to ensure developments are analysed, estimated and prioritised before they are added to the development plans.
Co-ordinate the release plans ensuring effective communication is in place with the end users, suppliers and the rest of the Technology team.
Work with other Centre of Excellences across projects.
Assist coordination, communication, training, execution and management of the project Testing Defect Resolution Process.
Create test plans.
Execute a rigorous QA process before handing the code over to end users for UAT.
Escalate any bugs found during the testing process to ensure swift resolution.
Co-ordinate UAT testing for all releases, ensuring liaison with end users to plan resource availability and deliver within deadlines.
Create and execute test scripts for both UAT and regression testing.
Ensure regression testing covers the E2E workflow of the application using automated testing tools.
Liaise with other support teams to plan and co-ordinate regression testing.
Manage individual test cycles & resolve tester queries / problems.
Defect management and reporting.
Develop strong working relationships with users, the rest of the Technology team and suppliers.
Co-ordinate required resources for each deployment.
Attend go / no go meetings to present testing progress and results.
Co-ordinate the Super User community involving business users from across the company.
Co-ordinate and deliver any training requests from end users, working alongside the Business Partnership & Strategy team.
Work with the Application Support team to ensure knowledge transfer is in place for any new developments.
Work with project teams to ensure any project delivered developments are tested and released into live as part of a controlled release process.
Work across sites, both within the company and suppliers.
Undertake other related support duties as requested / required by the reporting manager.
Produce release plan for each release for the go / no go meetings.
Provide support for the Application Management team post go live ensuring any post release bugs are co-ordinated, escalated and reported on.
This role assists as the gatekeeper’ to the live environment carrying out check and balances to ensure there is minimal risk to the operation from any deployments into live for the publishing systems applications.
You will also need : -
Experience of testing application code.
Proven track record of testing medium to large technical changes and regression testing.
Experience in stakeholder management.
Experience in liaising with technical teams and 3rd Party suppliers.
Experience of writing test scripts, test plans and documentation.
Experience of using testing tracking tools, e.g. JIRA.
Experience in using automated testing tools.
Good understanding of automated testing framework.
Understanding of cross browser testing, interface testing and middleware.
Defect management and reporting.
ISEB / ISTQB qualification.
Nice to have skills : -
Understanding of Biblio3.
Knowledge of ITIL.
Publishing industry experience.
Experience in using .net.
Experience in writing and understanding simple queries using MS SQL.
Experience in working in a Centre of Excellence model and agile team environment.
Experience of Non Functional Testing (e.g. performance) and using testing tools.
