Job title : Paralegal (training contract opportunity)

Location : Slinfold, West Sussex. We are currently working from home due to COVID-19 and expect a return to HQ when it is safe to do so

Salary : Depending on skills and experience

Hours : Monday- Friday 08 : 30-17 : 30 working 40 hours per week

Contract : Permanent

The newly created role of Paralegal reports directly to General Counsel and its main function is to support the operational requirements of the department.

Joining a team of two, your exposure will be spread widely across our global organisation.

  • Generating first drafts of simple documents such as confidentiality agreements notices to customers and suppliers, heads of terms, and letters of intent.
  • Drafting basic contract amendments and both reviewing and collating conditions precedent and shadowing the senior members of the legal department.
  • Proofreading of contracts. This will include ensuring correct grammar, punctuation and clause references are all correct before sending to Customer or Vendor.
  • Monitoring KYC requirements and managing due diligence with respect to new clients and agents.
  • Conducting legal, corporate and commercial research, where necessary.
  • Uploading and filing documents in the Company’s Contract Database.
  • Dealing with Companies House compliance, including the filing of confirmation statements, payment practices reporting and company accounts.
  • Liaising with the company insurance brokers to procure insurance certificates and evidence of insurance compliance to customers and suppliers and managing those insurance certificates provided by customers and vendors.
  • Managing general administrative tasks for the department including arranging for the signature of documents, notarisations and apostilles, tax residency certificates, and collating information in response to KYC requests.
  • Assisting with the continual development of in-house precedents.
  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of in-house training.

  • Law degree or GDL and having completed the LPC.
  • A confident, professional manner.
  • Previous paralegal experience gained in either placement, practice or otherwise
  • Ability to build relationships with internal staff members.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, pressured environment.
  • Ability to understand the business situation and be flexible to changing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, without the need for close supervision.
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • A basic understanding and ability to use PLC is desirable but not essential.
  • There may be an opportunity to offer a training contract or equivalent, in-house after a set time period in our employment.
