The Cloud Technical Architect position is part of the UK and Ireland Technology Consulting team. As an Oracle Cloud Technical Architect you will be responsible for the planning, architecture, high level design and implementation of Oracle Solutions across Cloud, Hybrid and on premise platforms.
The Cloud Technical Architect will be engaged to ensure that the Cloud / Hybrid / On Premise implementation or migration is delivered according to client expectations, and that the resulting system is deployed onto a platform which supports the long term requirements of the system.
The role requires that the technical architect has an understanding of general architecture principles together with the in depth knowledge of specific Oracle Cloud Services / Technologies to ensure the delivered solution meets all performance, availability, manageability and scalability requirements.
Practical experience of delivering projects which deploy Oracle core technologies is essential.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The architect must be able to interact with client representatives at all levels, both from a technical and business perspective to ensure that the ultimate architecture design addresses the requirements of all parties.
Defining the technical architecture principles
Planning, designing and implementation of Cloud / Hybrid / On Premise systems according to Oracle best practice and client requirements
Preparation of the high level architecture design
Oversight or preparation of low level design to ensure that the solution adheres to the objectives, requirements, design principles and vision of the project
Overseeing the implementation, configuration and testing of the architecture
Ensuring the performance, availability and scalability requirements are met by the overall solution
Ensuring the systems management capabilities of the solution deliver to the required level.
Must be able to communicate effectively with other project team members, end client and appropriate business departments to identify architecture requirements
Translate business requirements for areas such as availability and performance into a technical design which will deliver against those requirements
Provide and in-depth understanding of all key Oracle Cloud Services / technologies together with an ability to communicate the business benefits of delivery of these technologies
The architect is responsible for providing key information regarding the design to the SME teams involved in the project.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies and Background
10+ years of experience applying appropriate technology solutions for a wide range of clients;
10+ years of experience in Technology / Application software implementation in a product support or consulting environment;
Experience in Oracle’s current Cloud Services (PaaS, IaaS and SaaS) is highly desirable
Cloud Architecture Development
Knowledge of full Oracle stack including Oracle Public Cloud Services
Some specific knowledge of cloud competitors including AWS and Azure
Detailed knowledge of architectural approaches including consolidation, cloud computing, virtualisation, disaster recovery, information management, big data, Java applications, Oracle and non-Oracle applications
Expert knowledge of Oracle products, tools and technologies; and skill in a variety of Oracle techniques, methods, processes and practices;
with particular emphasis on the following Services / applications and underpinning technologies
Oracle PaaS and IaaS
Be able to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas of design :
High Availability design
Integration with other systems
Strong technical foundation perhaps including practical delivery skills as an Applications DBA with strong database and database options knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of Cloud concepts
Experience of a range of operating systems and tools to configure and optimise
Experience in designing complex system architectures, comprising multiple components across heterogeneous server and network infrastructures, would be an advantage
Ability to form lasting high-level relationships both inside and outside a project assignment
Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior management within a client
Politically savvy in complex situations both within the client and Oracle
Excellent knowledge of methods, product standards and architectural roadmaps and governance procedures, including TOGAF, OUM, AIM
Track record of success and credibility at all levels
Strong customer service client relationship skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with strong presentation ability
Significant consulting / client facing experience (includes Director level and above);

Demonstrates expertise in multiple business processes across two or more product families or ability to architect and design technology solutions encompassing multiple products and make decisions based on impact across the stack.
8-10 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience. Prior team leadership or management experience preferred.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as needed.
