The main purpose of this role is to manage a variety of accounts with recent or aged arrears, establish and maintain relationships with tenants, negotiate payments, handle objections and ensure maximum recovery of arrears.

You will also :

  • maximise arrears collection from both current and former tenants and take responsibility for arrears for designated portfolio
  • communicate and negotiate with tenants by telephone, email and other methods
  • make payment arrangements with tenants and monitor the effectiveness of these arrangements
  • ensure accurate processing of monies received from tenants
  • ensure compliance with policies and procedures relevant to arrears collection
  • provide advice and support to both tenants and landlords in relation to arrears
  • liaise with branches to keep them apprised of arrears and maximise recovery
  • instruct and liaise with solicitors in relation to serving of notices to tenants
  • liaise with internal stakeholders where required
  • effectively monitor and report on arrears as required by the business
  • ensure accurate records are kept of all communications with tenants
  • make recommendations in relation to irrecoverable arrears
  • contribute to the development and implementation of related policies, procedures and service improvement plans.
  • Skills Required :

  • Previous collections / credit control experience essential
  • Previous experience of outbound and inbound high volume call handling
  • Organised and efficient with the ability to work under pressure
  • Good communicator with a confident telephone manner
  • Questioning and negotiating skills
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Highly motivated and target driven
