    Job Description : The Role

    The Role

    Over the last twelve months, Merkle’s Agency Services team have invested in our internal tech proposition by growing our Media Solutions department.

    We are now looking for a Full-stack Developer to join our small team of developers as we continue growing this arm of our business.

    Merkle's Agency Services function runs digital marketing campaigns for some of the largest advertisers in the UK, with 400 employees based in London, Edinburgh and Dubai.

    The Media Solutions team sits within this function and is responsible for building and maintaining our internal software products.

    Our tools are currently are used by over 300 members of the team, with wider expansion to the EMEA team in the coming year.

    To achieve our goals, we’re looking for an experienced developer to join us and help build industry-leading products. We are a small but growing team within the agency, so in addition to writing top notch code, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to wider development lifecycle processes, such as decisions on infrastructure and team best practice.

    You'll have a high degree of autonomy, working alongside your fellow developers day-to-day, and coordinating closely with our internal product leads to develop user-focused products.

    There are opportunities to mentor more junior developers, and as the team grows, we envisage opportunities to focus on specific areas of expertise, such as architecture design, or becoming a team lead.

    Life as a Full-stack Developer at Merkle

  • Software development lifecycle. We’re a small team, so you’ll participate in the team’s development lifecycle, working with the rest of the development team and the internal product team.
  • This includes contributing to the roadmap, supporting on architecture and infrastructure decisions, and following processes such as testing to ensure development progresses on time and to specification.

  • Coding . You’ll actively contribute to the codebase, writing clean, logical and structured code that sets the standard for the team.
  • This is a full-stack role; we predominantly use React as our frontend framework, and C# on the backend (although we’re moving towards a microservices infrastructure)

  • Wider business operations. You’ll be expected to get involved in decision making for the tools you work on and take an active role in ensuring your team’s work aligns with wider business objectives.
  • We don’t believe in our developers working in a bubble; we’re building a collaborative team that aligns closely with our product leads.

    Afterall, many of the end users for your work will be sitting in the same office as you!

  • Qualifications :

    What we are looking for in you

    We anticipate that a successful candidate will have circa 3 years of experience as a developer, including experience in a modern JavaScript frontend framework, and working with OOP on the backend.

    We use React and C# predominantly, but don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these technologies specifically right now.

    We’re looking for someone with a strong desire to learn and who can apply their existing programming skills as they learn our stack.

  • Strong OOP experience (language agnostic)
  • Strong knowledge of a modern JS framework - React would be a plus, but not essential
  • A familiarity with cloud deployment (we use Google Cloud).
  • Experience contributing to the wider software development lifecycle
  • Experience liaising with a product owner / manager
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
