7 / 8A Clinical Psychologists in Primary Care (Full-time and Part-time opportunities)
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologists to work in our Primary
Care Mental Health Service on Wirral. Our innovative new model of care is succeeding in
ensuring that the patient pathway is integrated into Community, Primary and Secondary
care provision by providing a seamless service health and care system rather than standalone services. As a key contributor to the continued development of a Step 4 service which
aims to bridge the gap between Primary and Secondary Care services, there will be
opportunities for innovative working and the clinical work will be varied.
In addition to direct clinical work, the provision of advice, consultation, training and
supervision on patients’ psychological care will be key elements of the role. You will also be
expected to contribute to the audit and research processes which will underpin the
evaluation of this new service.
In addition to working in a supportive, friendly team environment, the post holder will
receive excellent support and clinical supervision and we actively encourage and support
CPD and service-related research. Understanding and being able to deliver person-centred
care is an essential part of this role.
The post is banded at 8a but we will consider applications from newly qualified, or soon to
be qualified clinical psychologists. If successful, a newly qualified psychologist would be paid
at Band 7 for a preceptorship period of 18 months before being supported to progress to a
Band 8a. The post is part of an expanding Psychology Service that has excellent professional
links with other specialties within the Trust and you will be part of a supportive, friendly,
network of Clinical Psychologists who meet regularly. As a service, we take trainees from the
North West training courses in Clinical Psychology and other therapy-related courses and
have academic links with local universities.
