Head of Procurement
The Procurement team within AG is centrally positioned to support all of the firms Procurement needs and plays a key role in the delivery of a number of key services which underpin the operations of the firm.
The Procurement team have identified a need to undertake formal Supplier Management processes, and adopt and improve upon good practice procurement techniques in order to drive value and efficiency throughout the firm's supply chains.
This has provided the opportunity to recruit 1 individual who can support AG in this capacity and also in other day to day procurement activity to support the wider team and the firm as appropriate.
The role of Procurement & Contracts Manager will report to the Head of Procurement, contributing directly to a number of key process improvement activities across the function.
The role's main focus will therefore be on implementing and maintaining strategies and processes for effective Supplier Relationship Management, working closely with stakeholders from across the firm, whilst also managing strategic contract renewals.
The role will also involve some general procurement duties, undertaken in support of the wider Procurement function in delivering team objectives.
Contributing directly to the strategic change initiatives and implementation plans for the team, specifically with regard to Supplier Management.
Support in shaping the Procurement strategy, policy and processes, which allow us to maintain focus on risk management whilst further developing commercial capabilities and profile.
Support in the development of a robust procurement approach for all high value / high risk contracts including the negotiation of high value, complex deals with key suppliers.
Promptly establishing close working relationships with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective engagement and appropriate communication internally.
The role should seek to raise the profile of Procurement with relevant stakeholder groups across the firm, including : Finance, GC & Risk, HR, PCOS, Business Development, Research & Knowledge Service, Legal, IT and Information Security teams,
Liaising closely with stakeholders to ensure the Procurement contribution to the firm's management of suppliers is clearly understood and delivered to agreed parameters.
Gaining a clear understanding of existing processes and key support areas of the firm which will facilitate the successful delivery of Supplier Relationship Management.
Demonstrating wider knowledge and ability to act as SME for Supplier Relationship Management, so that Procurement is well positioned to deliver optimal value to the firm and its clients.
Timely, regular communication with Head of Procurement to advise of progress and to ensure effective senior stakeholder communications and escalations.
Influencing effectively both internally and externally to deliver Procurement team objectives.
Delivering outputs that drive supplier efficiencies, focus on continuous improvement, and that hold suppliers to account e.
g. for poor delivery against SLAs.
Seeking best possible value and preferential terms from the firm's contracts with its suppliers and identifying opportunities for savings and collaboration.
Leading on designated strategic procurement projects ensuring value for money on all projects.
Demonstrable experience in a managerial procurement capacity with experience of Supplier Management.
Broad category experience, ideally covering IT, Finance or HR categories.
Ability to work at pace and comfortable in a changing environment.
Demonstrable experience in independently managing end to end high-value procurement contracts and projects.
Track record of delivering savings, and other value-adding benefits across procurement projects.
Studying towards or completed CIPS qualifications, or equivalent managerial procurement experience.
