Job Overview

Applications are invited for the position of Hygiene Assistant, working within one of our 3 sites in Newry. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the successful candidate will work as part of a team, ensuring that levels of cleanliness are maintained at a level required in the pharmaceutical industry.

Duties will include general cleaning such as brushing & mopping floors of offices, laboratories, production areas, washrooms, locker rooms, main factory walkways and stairs.

Duties will also include dusting, polishing, using vacuum cleaners & scrubbers and preparing meeting rooms for company visitors.

Main Activities / Tasks

  • All offices throughout the factory and office block are to be cleaned once weekly or more often if required.
  • Washrooms & locker rooms to be cleaned at set frequency.
  • Adherence to cleaning checklists.
  • Cleaning of : Windows, skirting boards, desks, top and front of filing cabinets, internal and external surfaces of waste bins, toilets, washing doors inside and outside observing walls for stains / marks and cleaning same, hoovering carpet and office waste to be removed and segregated.
  • Periodic cleaning of offices as follows : Cleaning of windows, high dusting all offices as required. Removing light fittings twice yearly, or more often if required, to remove insects and cleaning of same.
  • Audits / Visits : Making Tea / Coffee, ensuring sufficient white coats are available, liaising with Canteen in bringing food into audits / visits.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary by management.
  • Essential Criteria :

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to demonstrate their initiative and have the ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Substantial experience within a hygiene role in a factory environment.
  • Observant of poor housekeeping practices & address these.
  • Desirable Criteria :

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Duration : Full Time, Permanent
