WIRED is looking for a diligent, responsible and efficient Events Operations Manager to coordinate, manage and produce WIRED’s premium conference series and bespoke events, including WIRED Health and WIRED Smarter.
This role is ideal for experienced events management professionals who want to work within the premium B2B, luxury and technology industry and have proven success in project management, problem-
solving and customer relations.
The ideal candidate will have the experience and confidence to direct and manage many of WIRED’s event suppliers and venues, production teams and vendor negotiations.
Reporting to the Head of Events, the candidate will have a strong business acumen to manage event production budgets, possess good judgement for decision-
making autonomy, and have strong organisational, interpersonal, technical and negotiation skills to ensure excellent fulfilment of WIRED’s company standards.
Clear communication, strong relationship with the events team and impeccable phone and office manner are must-haves, as well as effortless patience, proactivity and independence to apply good judgment and the ambition and drive to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Work as part of the Events team on all activities related to WIRED’s events portfolio, including but not limited to :
Reporting to the Head of Events on all activities
Building the production, operations and logistics plan for each of WIRED’s events (as approved by the Head of Events)
Managing and executing the above-mentioned production plan on time and to budget
Managing all external and internal event vendor, partner and supplier agreements and ensuring all deliverables are met on time and to budget
Negotiate all new event vendor, partner and supplier contracts (with the Head of Events)
Ensuring the events run smoothly and at the high quality set by WIRED
Managing all technical requirements, floor planning and catering for WIRED Events
Proactive generate new ways to maintain budgets and contain costs
Running all necessary team meetings
Supporting the commercial team on bespoke events
Working with different departments within Condé Nast Britain to help execute larger events strategy.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Degree-level education or equivalent
At least 4 years of experience in B2B events marketing (full-time roles)
Willingness to learn, be trained and apply knowledge in the role
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organisation skills and exceptional attention to detail
Excellent time management skills
Ability to deliver under pressure
Deadline- and target-driven
Interest in WIRED, technology and innovation
