    Aquila Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) was formed in 2014 as a joint venture between National Air Traffic Services (NATS) , air navigation services specialist and Thales , the primary supplier of equipment and services for UK Air Traffic Management (ATM).

    Aquila was awarded the £1.5 billion Project Marshall contract by the MOD in 2014. The programme will provide military terminal Air Traffic Management (ATM) capability which ensures that all flights are safely and efficiently managed and sequenced for take-off and landing.

    Due to the growth of the team we now require a Project Accountant to join the team. Reporting to the Head of Operational Finance, the Project Accountant has the following main roles :

  • Acting as deputy to the Head of Operational Finance as required
  • Provide detailed and accurate forecast data for Project Marshall
  • Reporting on all additional work over £500k through the bid process and whilst in operation
  • Provision of forecast data for the demand side of labour
  • Responsibilities

    Project Marshall Finance :

  • Liaise with the Head of Operational Finance to ensure that all variances to budget are understood
  • Ensure that forecast data for Project Marshall over the 22 year period is accurate and robust and provide challenge as appropriate
  • Work with Programme Leads to provide a forecast for the demand side of labour
  • Work with supply chain to provide a forecast for sub-contracted work
  • Understanding of the variances between forecast and actuals and which variances are a permanent change to the long-term costs of Project Marshall
  • Bid Data :

  • Ensure that bid data for all projects over £500k is produced in a timely manner and is accurate
  • Provision of data for gate packs on projects over £500k
  • Provide some challenge during the bid process to ensure the optimisation of profit
  • Working with Project management to ensure that costs on projects over £500 are accurately captured and that the balance sheet for WIP and Deferred / Accrued revenue accurately reflect the current trading position
  • Provision of variance analysis on bid vs actual spend
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Must hold a recognised financial qualification CIMA, ACA, ACCA
  • We are looking for an individual, who has experience of long-term contract accounting, this is vital to the role. You will have a good working knowledge and recent experience of costing projects from the bottom-up, applying pre-set rates and third-party quotations to defined costing templates.

    The successful candidate will be an effective communicator / Influencer who is able to converse with Senior Stakeholders and be able to challenge the business where needed.

    We are looking for you to work collaboratively with the Head of Operational Finance as their second in command. It goes without saying that we are looking for an individual with a Can do attitude who has the ability to work under pressure.

    Communication is key for this role and we are looking for strong oral and written communication skills.
