Veterinary Externship Application
Bristol Zoo Gardens is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Approved Centre for Zoological Medicine. Established in 1999, the on-
site veterinary department deals with over 10,000 animals of more than 500 species resident at Bristol Zoo Gardens. The vet department currently consists of the Head of Veterinary Services Michelle Barrows, two part-
time staff vets Rowena Killick and Richard Saunders, and two part-time nurses Head veterinary nurse Kellie Wyatt and veterinary nurse Teresa Horspool.
Zoo veterinary work is varied ranging from hands-on’ clinical work and post mortem exams to record keeping and collating data.
Volunteers are expected to assist with all areas.
We are now fully booked for 2019. Applications for 2020 will be accepted from January 2019.
