Reporting to the Product Development Director, the Consumer Products Costing Analyst is responsible for helping to drive sustainable product value.

You will collaborate with our Vendors and Factories, Planning, Finance, Operations, Creative, Engineering, Product Development, and Merchandising teams and provide costing visibility to aide in the development of pricing strategies.

In this role, you will help the Product Development team hit their target product costs (TPC) aiding in the business to achieve the gross pricing margins (GPM) goals across each product category by identifying the margin implications of business decisions, provide margin reporting, aide / lead ad-hoc margin analysis, identify product tradeoffs and cost efficiencies, and help identify solutions that meet the needs of all business partners.

To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter who can work autonomously but also cross-functionally. You must possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail paired with a strong work ethic, and a desire to continuously learn and develop.

We’re looking for an experienced star player who is organized, detail-oriented, and excels at working with teams to get things accomplished.

Your Superpowers in Action

  • Owns and maintains product cost approval tracking list. Works with Product Development and suppliers on approving and tracking product costing ensuring that product / programs meet target costing and margin contributions.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining costing dashboards to be reported out to the business during quarterly business reviews (QBR’s)
  • Works closely with Product Development Director in establishing costing best practices and provides costing support and analysis to product developers
  • Participates in product costing negotiations both internally and with suppliers and factories
  • Ensures that product costing is approved and provides reporting and support to Procurement of these approvals
  • Works cross-functionally and provides support to Product Engineering in tracking tooling costs; gathers costing information and organizes data in a meaningful way to support cost-saving initiatives
  • Works with and in support of Product Development, Planning, Finance, Sales and Merchandising in helping to create and track product margin targets and goals across the different product categories
  • Provides support and costing data to the Merchandising team to aid in establishing product target costs
  • Completes other assignments as assigned

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Management or related field (additional 2 years’ experience may be substituted for a degree)
  • Minimum of three years direct relevant work experience within product costing, engineering, manufacturing or financial modeling, preferably within a fast-paced consumer goods organization (toys & plastics)
  • Ability to perform scenario planning analysis and articulate the impact of certain decisions on overall product margins
  • Ability to work with various members from cross-functional teams, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of toy development and cross-category consumer products in costing, sourcing, and the overall go to market process is a plus
  • Strong ability to lead multiple competing priorities
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
  • Strong ability to develop high-profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams and functions
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and written), including the ability to manage strong and effective cross-functional relationships both within and outside the organization (including C-Level Executives)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop highly productive relationships with individuals and teams that are made up of diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds resulting in strong collaborative relationships across the company
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, and Adobe skills a plus
  • Must be able to follow-through and have strong attention to detail
  • Work Environment Requirements

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the employee will be exposed to office noises and interruptions such as printers, phones, and chatter from surrounding teams.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods.

    The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, lift, or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.

    The employee may occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds without physical limitations or restrictions.
