About The Opportunity An exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Officer has become available at our prestigious Aerospace manufacturing site in Western Approach, Bristol.
The role will manage key accounts between GKN Aerospace and its customers to ensure successful commercial operation of the GKN business.
The ideal Candidate needs to be confident and have the ability to construct and present arguments on behalf of GKN in a manner that clearly and concisely demonstrates GKN’s key issues and carries them through to successful commercial resolution with customers. Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Realisation Support overall site growth targets , margins and strategy objectives by supporting the bid process where required, and managing change.
Pricing and Financial Awareness - Understand accounting principles and be able to use the GKN business / pricing model with confidence.
Programme Support and order book management - Actively participate in programme reviews, supporting the business in its delivery of contractual obligations.
Customer Relationships Proactively resolve customer concerns, develop new customer relationships and new opportunities.
Terms and Conditions Confidently analyse T&Cs in order to provide a view to the business on the most appropriate response.
Negotiation Support or where necessary lead the preparation and negotiation of claims to reach an agreeable settlement.
Champion Export Control’ compliance activities, ensuring you and where applicable, member of your team, adhere to the site Technology Control Plan (TCP)’, guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulation, controls, training and systems.
Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities.
Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company’s procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions.
Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s).
Qualifications and Skills
GSCE’s or equivalent in Maths and English Certification Check.
Academic qualification relevant to commercial (IACCM, CIPS, Degree) Certification check.
Specific Functional Capability, Knowledge and Skills Required
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Commercial management, preferably in the Aerospace industry.
Demonstrates a sound understanding of day to day commercial function and have experience in managing and resolving issues surrounding order management, invoicing and change management.
Demonstrates the ability to review and respond to customer demands to ensure that GKNAF is meeting its contractual obligations.
Customer focused with the ability to challenge when customer is wrong.
Analytical, critical mind-set with ability to construct detailed and substantive arguments in a clear and presentable format for customer review.
Excellent communication skills at all levels of the business.
Self-starter who shows initiative as well as maintaining excellent collaboration with wider teams.
Vision, creativity and imagination for new solutions using knowledge of lean and continuous improvement techniques.
Skilled in the use of MS Office tools (especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
Knowledge SAP ERP system specifically order management tools.
Awareness of HS&E requirements.
Export Control understanding and regulatory requirements.
Negotiation ability to produce and execute a negotiation plan to reach an agreeable conclusion.
Manage direct reports in accordance with policy and procedures (as applicable)
Experience of contract terms and conditions.
Understanding of business finance.
Examples of building a commercially successful customer relationship.
Understanding of the principles of corporate governance.
May be occasional travel to customer sites, including travel abroad.
