The Ultrasound Dept offers a recruitment and retention allowance of 10% pro-rata for this post. This means that the pay could be equivalent to just above Agenda for change pay point 36, in the 8a band (dependent on your current Afc pay point)

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) is a regional teaching and trauma centre. The role can involve working across the BSUH main sites : the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital.

However the combination of sites or single site working and personal preference is negotiable.

Brighton is a vibrant city by the sea. Brighton and Haywards Heath have easy access to the South Downs National Park and are within one hour of London.

We are looking for an enthusiastic sonographer to join our team. Suitable candidates must be HCPC registered qualified sonographers or registered with equivalent professional body.

The successful candidate will have a range of proven experience covering, all or a combination of, obstetrics, gynaecology, early pregnancy scanning and general abdominal ultrasound.

Small parts and DVT scanning would be advantageous.

A DMU or PgC / PgD in Medical Ultrasound is essential.

BSUH and SCFT are committed to supporting your professional development. Sonographer role development includes MSK training, head and neck training (including biopsy), TRUS biopsy and Paediatric developmental dysplasia hip ultrasound.

You will be part of a busy, friendly, supportive team providing a wide range of ultrasound examinations. There is an ongoing commitment to participate in our training programmes for trainee sonographers and specialist trainee registrars.

You need to be able to work independently, demonstrating a high level of competence and will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Currently the department operates 5 days a week and there is an intention to extend this. Full or part time hours will be considered.

  • Posts in the Trust are subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, and cautions.
  • Appointment to this role will commence at the lowest salary point unless confirmed otherwise by HR Employment Services (Recruitment, Administration & Terms and Conditions)
