    Role Summary :

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing IT Team and help provide best-in-class Enterprise Data Architecture to Ocado Retail Ltd.

    This role will play a key role in driving a number of data and analytics initiatives including cloud data transformation, data governance, and MDM.

    This role will also develop and maintain reference architectures to promote reusable patterns and promote best practices for data integration and consumption, as well as support the data and insights team in developing new analytics models based on business requirements.

    Key roles and responsibilities :

  • Lead the technology stack and capabilities associated with our data technology ecosystem including :
  • Data Lake / Warehouse (Google), advanced analytics and Business Intelligence platform (Tableau).
  • Technologies in the data domain specifically for ingestion and transformation (ELT / ETL), storage, access and consumption, data catalogue / dictionary and data visualization.
  • Lead or support third parties with solution architecture activities for all data engineering, integration and visualization projects ensuring that they adhere to the appropriate IT framework standards.
  • Collaborate with the Ocado Retail’s data engineering team to ensure development in line with architectural standards.
  • Develop key partnerships across Ocado Retail’s community of data personnel, including data owners / stewards, data process owners, data visualization experts and other business partners, with the goal of maturing the enterprise up the data maturity curve.
  • Build path to new technology implementations if benefits associated with technology capabilities, cost efficiencies and / or technology landscape simplification is present.
  • Establish standards and frameworks associated with how data technologies are to be used and ensure adherence to those standards by data engineers and developers.
  • This should include repeatable design patterns that relate to industry-accepted reference architectures.

  • Keep a pulse on data technologies available in the market and communicate roadmaps associated with what technologies we are using (or should be using) and why.
  • Participate in the Enterprise Architecture board and support the Enterprise Architect mature the function.
  • Essential Skills :

  • Strong cloud data architecture knowledge with experience developing architecture strategies and plans to enable cloud data transformation, MDM, data governance, and data science capabilities.
  • Proven experience in data definition and modelling incl. designing, building and maintaining data models (and ontologies), at both the enterprise and solution / application level and definition of data glossaries / dictionaries and semantic models.
  • Proven experience developing data policies, standards, and procedures respecting, at all times, the balance between tactical and strategic needs.
  • Proven data governance experience to operate formal and informal technical governance and compliance activities.
  • Experience working with one or more cloud data platforms (e.g. Google Big Query) and data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling tools such as ER-Studio, ERWin or IBM Infosphere data architect.
  • Comfortable engaging with business leaders and developing a thorough understanding of business processes and compliance requirements.
