Why this role matters

This is a key role within Transformation that is accountable for end to end delivery of a significant Portfolio of cross brand programmes which underpin BT Consumer’s P&L and strategic ambitions.

The Portfolio will include delivery of world class products, services and first to market innovation. The role carries responsibility for managing and mitigating delivery risk that is potentially share-price and brand affecting and carries risk at a regulatory (Ofcom) level.

  • Management of the delivery of a cross brand portfolio of Programmes with a value of c£30M capital investment
  • Leading a team of 20-25 FTE to successfully run delivery of the Portfolio
  • Build and develop a team of high performing Programme Managers Project Managers and Agile Delivery Managers. Provide support, objective setting, performance management, advice, coaching and mentoring to enhance / improve the overall team’s performance.
  • Recruit for the team.

  • Management of an opex cost centre of approximately £1.5m
  • What you'll be doing

  • Delivery of highly complex portfolio of cross functional initiatives and programmes, involving business, technology, process and people changes, through agile and waterfall delivery processes, on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria
  • Lead the adoption of agile ways of working across the portfolio
  • Capex management of the Portfolio to achieve agreed cost, time and quality metrics
  • Management of governance forums within the Portfolio to manage delivery
  • Escalating issues and where programmes are off track
  • Managing suppliers to deliver the Portfolio
  • Resource planning and allocation within the Portfolio
  • Implementation of continuous improvement and lessons learnt within the Portfolio
  • Reporting status of Portfolio delivery, and any decisions / interventions required direct to MDs Directors and below
  • Quality assurance for the delivery
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with key partners e.g. would be
  • Marketing teams, operational teams and TSO, driving proactive interventions to deliver

  • Ability to interpret a strategic vision and commercial and customer plan to drive delivery to achieve the ambition understanding how decisions around scope, timing and resources impact commercial and customer outcomes
  • Understanding of the key commercial levers and customer pain points in the business and how programmes of work impact those
  • Leadership of direct teams, virtual environment and cross functional programmes
  • Experience in portfolio management, programme management and agile methodologies across 1 or more of mobile, fixed and TV & Sport product domains and 2 or more channels (Sales, Customer Care, Digital, Retail)
  • Organised and able to anticipate risks and issues proactively getting to root cause and address
  • Experience in integrating teams, methods, cultures
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to manage complex decisions across large numbers of stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with experience of creating a compelling narrative for an MD and Director audience
  • Proven track record of large scale consumer facing portfolio management and programme delivery
