About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Works Co-ordinator to join our Gas & Water business unit to work in Manchester.

What you'll be doing

As a Temporary Works Co-ordinator, you will have the following accountabilities :

  • Support all design & construction activities within GDSP & wider BB G&W function;
  • Develop and maintain proactive and positive relationships with all key stakeholders within BBUS and across the wider Balfour Beatty Group;
  • Understand the importance of corporate governance and ensure consistent measures and standards are applied;
  • Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports the BBUS company values;
  • Form guidance and lead the onsite control of all Temporary Works activities within the given Section;
  • Assist with the identification of scheme’s Temporary Works requirements during the design stage, as well as during construction;
  • Ensure business processes and systems for Temporary Works are implemented;
  • Development of accurate design briefs in consultation with site and design teams;
  • Undertake simple (Cat 0 / 1) temporary works designs;
  • Co-ordinate with the site management to ensure all Temporary Works requirements are captured.
  • Who we're looking for

    The following qualities and experience are essential :

  • Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, minimum of a HNC / HND, preferably BEng;
  • Full UK driving licence;
  • Experience preferably with a temporary works / civils / utilities background, with a significant & wide range of temporary works construction experience, with a sound understanding of engineering principles;
  • Awareness of the requirements of BS5975 : 2008 procedural control requirements;
  • Sound health & safety knowledge relating to site and design activities;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the CDM regulations and associated legislation;
  • Large diameter mainlining on Gas Distribution networks;
  • Works involving deep / supported excavations;
  • Simple and complex lifting operations;
  • Knowledge and experience in MS office applications.
