Our client is recruiting for a Test & Environment Manager who will report directly to the Enterprise Architect you will be responsible for the managing the environments and any associated releases before they go live.

You will be responsible for setting up and running the organisation's Environment Management and associated Release Function, within the business and wider Change Programme.

This is a pivotal role within an organisation currently undergoing a large-scale IT Transformation programme.

You will oversee the integration and flow of development, testing and deployment of systems, and plan releases, including which fixtures and enhancements will feature in which release, working closely with Change & Project managers to coordinate release plans and deployments across the programme, this will include installing software release and tracking deployments, monitoring to ensure issues and bugs are caught early, and operating at the heart of the IT team to manage the environments.

You will be liaising frequently with QA, Production Support, Development, and Business users in order to help determine future environment capability and the requirements needed and in addition to this you will have the responsibility of ensuring the development proves is followed and that standards are enforced, as well as identifying areas of improvement.

  • Leading the strategic direction of the environment team, across multiple projects and programmes, in the disciplines of environment engineering
  • Driving and co-ordinating the deployment of software and hardware changes whilst ensuring the consistency and availability of environments to support the existing project portfolio
  • Cultivating strong, collaborative working relationships with the wider IT and business functions as well as 3rd parties, ensuring that deliverables are aligned to overriding requirements and expectations
  • Day to day management of the IT Environment team incorporating effective coaching, mentoring and development opportunities
  • On-going development and evolution of key metrics and reporting mechanisms in order to monitor progress and overall team performance
  • Ownership of core policies, processes and standards including the development and maintenance of appropriate controls in order to identify and mitigate internal issues and / or risks
  • Significant experience with Continuous Integration tools and industry best practices
  • Experience controlling testing environments and configuration management
  • Experience liaising with Development, QA, Production, and Business users
  • A tenacious can-do attitude and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and work in an undefined environment and be self-sufficient in delivery
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and relay to the technical streams for solutioning
  • Possess a wealth of experience in Environment Management, ideally leading through periods of large-scale transformation
  • Be a strong people manager, able to motivate up to, and including, Head of IT
  • Have proven stakeholder engagement and management capability, with demonstrable experience of gaining buy in from senior management teams and challenging, when necessary, in an appropriate and effective way
  • Have an excellent grasp of testing strategy and risk management / quality approaches, especially relating to the introduction of new modules, changes, fixes and upgrades
  • Have a wealth of experience in both automated and manual testing techniques and well as Functional and Non-Functional testing experience.
  • A working knowledge of Windows, SQL and Unix servers is also desirable.
  • Be fully up to date and proactive around ensuring working knowledge of latest testing methodologies, tools, standards and industry best practices

  • Solid MS Dynamics 365 knowledge
  • Solid MS Azure knowledge

  • SDLC experience within an Agile Environment
