What will you be doing?

You will be joining a talented team of engineers, working together in designing and building the next generation of PayPoint Applications.

You will have the opportunity to show case your development skills across various projects all of which will use the latest technology.

Key points of the role

  • Design and build advanced applications for the PayPoint Android platform of IoT devices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, test and ship new features
  • Work with outside data sources and APIs
  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Build automated functional and performance tests
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
  • What would we like from you?

  • Proven software development experience and Android skills development including design for variable screen sizes and developments across versions of Android (starting with Android 4.4+)
  • Agile (Scrum, Kanban) environment experience, TDD / Unit Testing, Continuous Integration - or a passion to work with these methods
  • Strong experience of IoT and smart devices. Working knowledge of the general mobile / tablet landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • BS / MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Proven working experience in Android app development including proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Experience with Android SDK
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
