Job Purpose :

We’re looking for an International Trade and Customs Analyst who will be responsible for supporting the AML Aftersales function with their customs and international trade requirements and obligations in relation to the end-to-end import / export processes pertaining to the flow of goods through AML Aftersales to all AML worldwide destinations.

Reporting directly to the International Trade and Customs Senior Manager, you will ensure that robust and efficient processes are in place to identify and manage all import / export requirements for all countries relating to Aftersales activities where AML has a presence and will support the collation and validation of all required import / export information to be drawn from various functions across the AML business and the wider supplier base.

Key internal interfaces will be the Aftersales Purchasing team and the wider AML Purchasing team, Aftersales Operations and AML of Europe GmbH customs resources.

Key external interfaces will be with AML’s supplier base, local Chambers of Commerce and AML’s third-party service providers (Customs Support, UPS etc.).

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of AML’s internal processes and ERP system (Goldcrest). Ideally, the candidate will also have experience or understanding of customs but this is not essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities :

You will work both with internal cross-functional partners within the business and with external partners and suppliers to ensure that AML meets its customs and international trade compliance obligations namely :

  • Becoming the primary point of contact at AML for all Aftersales-related customs queries.
  • Researching, identifying and understanding all import / export requirements relating to the supply of goods for all countries and customers on behalf of Aftersales.
  • Creating and implementing clear processes to manage and collate all information required for import / export operations of AML Aftersales.
  • Taking a pro-active role in validating all import / export information provided by other areas of the AML business and suppliers and urgently addressing / escalating any areas of concern or weakness, including leading cross-functional meetings to resolve issues.
  • Building and developing an effective network of contacts across the AML business to support the operation of all aspects of Aftersales import / export activities.
  • Writing standard operating procedures to record the import / export activities of Aftersales where they impact upon customs regimes.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments in relation to Aftersales import / export operations and identifying contingency plans where necessary.

  • Developing and delivering regular progress reports / presentations to communicate status of import / export operations and driving actions within functions.
  • Supporting the International Trade & Customs Senior Manager in identifying any customs related market risks, opportunities and determining best practice.
  • Qualification & Experience :

  • Knowledge of AML processes & procedures.
  • Detailed working knowledge of AML’s ERP (Goldcrest).
  • Strong IT skills using office tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work cross functionally and build effective relationships
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of customs and international trade requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of automotive, retail or logistics supply chain operations.
  • Aftersales knowledge / background.
  • Hold an understanding of Customs requirements for HMRC, process flows and required documentation for completing imports and exports globally
