The purpose of this role is to proactively and effectively lead the efficient operation of the Assurance team.
You will provide assurance to the CRCO, CRO, and CCO, the business units and the Group Audit and Risk Committees that AJG is complying with its regulatory obligations, identifying areas of weakness and making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
You will also provide Compliance & Risk Management team with challenge, assurance, guidance and leadership; Lead the annual Assurance planning process and ensure collaborative working by supporting team colleagues and be responsible for coordinating training & development.
Deliver the Function Strategy
Develop and implement an effective regulatory assurance strategy for the Group. In working with ERM and IA be a key leader in Gallagher’s approach to complimentary assurance.
Inform the Risk Committee of progress of the Assurance Plan gaining their approval for changes to the content and scope of work.
Work with the business and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders ensuring buy in to findings of Assurance reviews.
Work with the Conduct and Financial Crime teams to ensure the business have appropriate advice on how to address the findings from Assurance reviews.
Ensure that the business own the management actions resulting from Assurance reviews and these are tracked through to completion and any exceptions are reported / escalated to the Risk Committee.
Ensure prompt escalation of critical and significant compliance issues to the CRCO, CCO, CRO, Board and senior management.
Delivery of reliable, timely, relevant reports on the Compliance matters to all Board and Executive meetings (inc. sub-committees)
Carry out assurance reviews of businesses acquired through M&A activity as agreed by Risk Committee as part of the Assurance Plan.
Provide commercial and pragmatic leadership to the Regulatory Assurance functions ensuring the function achieves its pre-agreed goals, responsibilities and objectives.
Comply with AJG Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for role with specific attention, but not limited to Whistle Blowing, Treating Customers Fairly.
Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business.
Lead and Develop the Team
Create an inclusive, engaged and motivated team culture to achieve optimum performance
Review engagement survey results and ensure appropriate actions are taken as required
Ensure that clear objectives are set, regular individual performance reviews are carried out and that rewards are directly linked to behaviours and performance against objectives
Oversee the development and training of the team, including the promotion of continuous professional development and advocacy of professional qualifications
Through effective succession planning, seek opportunities to develop team members that could become future managers and leaders of the team or within the wider business
Effective resource planning (within the limitations of allocated resource) through monitoring retention risks and promptly acting to mitigate these to avoid skill or knowledge gaps that could impact the business
Ensure that recruitment and selection within your team is carried out in a fair and effective way
Risk and Governance
Ensure that the Assurance team provide details of rateable findings to be captured and tracked within RiskConsole.
Ensure the team conduct Assurance reviews in an appropriate manner in adherence to Gallagher policies and procedures
Accountable for ensuring team members within the team complete mandatory training, minimum continuous professional development (CPD) hours, annual performance reviews and goal setting
Role model good conduct and ensure that any breach of the conduct rules are reported and appropriate action is taken
Carry out the role in accordance with the FCA’s Senior Manager & Certification Regime requirements and remain mindful at all times of the FCA’s Principles for Business

Attendee of the Risk Committee
Member or attendance of such other Boards and Committees within the GGB-UK group of which you may from time to time be required to attend or act as a member
