As Calor GB Head of Procurement, you will take the role of department lead as well as being a key member of the Calor and Global Procurement Leadership teams.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead the GB Procurement team to drive savings, make continuous improvements and partner with the business and Global team to add value.
You will manage and cover the full spend portfolio across all sites and will assure compliance with and support further harmonisation of processes, tools, techniques, reporting, KPI’s, methodologies.
You will also be required to develop professionalism by ensuring proper implementation of procurement capabilities and automation using SAP and Ariba.
You will play a key role in ensuring the procurement function it is fit for purpose both today and in the future.
The keys skills and experience required for this role are : -
Ideally Masters or MBA qualified; with an understanding of different industries, businesses and cultures;
Understanding of Procurement and Procurement Transformation programs;
Strong commercial knowledge and knowledge of related processes, tools, competences;
Program and Project management skill;
Consultancy skills and understanding of change programs.
Knowledge on Continuous improvement programs
Procurement experience and in other business and commercial roles, preferably in different organizations.
Significant experience of managing Indirect spend Categories preferred;
Experienced in driving significant change through Strategic Sourcing with tangible and demonstrable successes.
Ideally with international experience, working with and in different cultures.
Good knowledge and experience of implementing Best Practice Procurement and Supplier Management approaches
Demonstrates superior interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills to multiple levels of the organization.
Proven team management experience in a Head of’ role including specific examples of key successes in development of team members

1. Positioning the function effectively
Develop a thorough understanding of Calor’ Procurement status, the SHV Energy Global Procurement Team, its value contribution, best practices as well as related improvement areas by annual execution of the Procurement assessment.
Participate fully in the SHV energy Procurement Leadership Team, the Calor Functional management teams and work with the SHV Energy Global Procurement Team.
2. Procurement Strategy and Plan to ensure business alignment and execution of the plan and as such :
Develop (and review) Procurement strategy (including roadmap) and plan based on present and future needs and expectations in line with the Global Procurement and Category strategies and the Calor strategy and plan.
Assure medium term roadmaps and annual procurement plans for Calor are in place.
Assure a procurement dashboard and reporting including KPIs is produced and is aligned with business reporting.
Actively look for ways in which to ensure continuous improvements in the results for your area.
Track and analyse value, validate procurement performance results and execute performance management
Create the business conditions to develop the Procurement function to the required maturity level
Be a focal point to and align with the Global Procurement Team
3. Communicate to relevant stakeholders on a regular basis
the Calor Procurement strategy and plan
The information on category performance, contract compliance, suppliers and CtP performance
Procurement and team best practices
Act as an advocate for Procurement throughout the business, building brilliant, open and challenging relationships with key stakeholders.
Sell’ the CALOR and SHVe procurement to the supply base at key suppliers
4. Source to Contract - Category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management
Assure spend data is correct, regularly reported and analysed
Connect to, support and implement the results of SHV Energy category strategies and strategic sourcing methodology by active use of the StC system (BravoSolutions)
Carry out annual portfolio analysis of all Operational and Capex spend and suppliers and determine how to manage key elements of spend in line with the categories of the Global Procurement team.
Develop a forensic insight into the supply markets of the Calor spend portfolio enabling you to provide market leading approaches and new ways of working to the business jointly with the Global Procurement team.
Drive acceptance of category strategies and flex and adapt as needed, consistently looking for innovative ways to drive improved functionality, increased value for money and reduced costs.
Ensure key suppliers consistently deliver fabulous service, great quality and even better value by embedding professional, fact based relationships in line with the Supplier Management process.
Lead cross functional teams to develop fresh strategic approaches with the business and to deliver improvements in the buying of goods and services.
Segment and manage the supply base by having appropriate processes and service levels in place.
Manage risk throughout spend supply chains.
5. Contract management and the related upstream procurement systems
Have a global contract repository in place (in BravoSolutions) supporting the active implementation of the contracts in all relevant business units and to increase contract compliance
Assure contract management practices are harmonised globally to enable management of the contracts and contract repository
Assure that contract templates are covering the right legal clauses, have followed the appropriate approval flows and are up to date with regulatory trends
Assure that contracts agreed deliver the results and these results are input to Supplier Performance Appraisals and negotiations
Assure that contract information is well translated in the systems (BravoSolutions and Ariba) via the contract management and master data organisation
Increase contract compliance in the BU and the use of the Procurement systems (BravoSolutions and Ariba) and work closely together with the contract managers in the Global Procurement Team
6. Drive compliance, adherence and full implementation to the Procurement policies and processes and makes full use of the available Procurement systems (BravoSolutions, Ariba) based on recommendations of internal auditing and minimal requirements and BSF control points set for all Sourcing, Contracting, Vendor Relationship Management and Contract to Pay activities.
7. Make procurement a career of choice, focus on organisational development and professionalism of people
Give leadership, manage the team, the budget and motivate people to develop continuously
Make sure that human resources are aligned to the spend base and the business needs in terms of resource planning and organisational setup
Adhere to the SHV Energy functions and functions house
Strive to have succession planning, talent management, training and continuously improvement activities in place according to the 70 : 20 : 10 principle.
The Procurement Academy training, mandatory and advanced ones are available for each function.
Involve Procurement excellence managers in the training, support and improvement of the Calor procurement organisation
Manage the application of the required SHV Energy Procurement ethics and standards of integrity
8. Procurement Processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Procurement within Calor
Assure deployment and execution through standardized procurement processes (StC, Contract Management and CtP), supporting systems, roles & responsibilities, master data management and knowledge management
Ensure the appropriate roles and functions are in place to manage the processes in the BU related to key user ship, training, change management and end user support
Work on continuous improvement with the functional excellence and master data management teams of the Global Procurement Team
Ensure successful implementation of core systems into the Calor, including Ariba in 2022 / 23.
