Your Role

The Public Relations Manager is a London-based team member who works in collaboration with the European Regional Marketing & Communications Director and the Firmwide Public Relations (PR) teams to research, create, write and identify compelling stories, manage media relations, strategic content development across print and web platforms.

The Public Relations manager will develop and execute PR programs that will drive Gensler’s visibility and shape our reputation in the region specifically in our three distinct markets London, United Kingdom and Europe.

This job requires a highly organised individual who is comfortable interacting with a variety of individuals across multiple markets and who aspires to help the Managing Principal, Marketing & Communications Director and the Firmwide PR team build an integrated and professional team.

Gensler seeks a highly motivated professional with excellent writing, editing and communication skills. This individual should be passionate about both media relations and architecture and design.

What You Will Do

The Public Relations Specialist will play a leading role in many regular PR responsibilities including :

  • Creating and updating Regional PR Plan
  • Identify story angles and appropriate journalists / publications to engage
  • Writing press materials (design backgrounders, press releases, pitches, case stories, fact sheets, talking points, messaging)
  • Developing and / or gathering pertinent project materials (case stories, renderings, photography) for pitching needs
  • Co-ordinate interviews and media training for key Gensler spokespeople
  • Maintaining speaking engagement calendar and manage those opportunities
  • Clear and constant communication with office, regional, and firmwide leadership
  • Works closely with Firmwide PR and Marketing teams on Firmwide research and messaging campaigns, ensure relevance in local market
  • Work closely with Gensler’s outside PR agency on regional / project related PR efforts
  • Manages external awards programmes and coordinates submissions
  • Knows firm portfolio in detail, understands practice area capabilities, actively seeks out firm's best practices for use in regional PA efforts
  • Maintain media lists
  • Track, clip and measure PR hits
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Your Qualifications

  • BA / BS in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, Business or related discipline preferred. (Fluency in either German, French and Spanish are an advantage)
  • Excellent English communication ability (both written and verbal) is a must
  • Solid knowledge of copy editing and fact checking
  • Willingness to dig in and do all work required to create first-rate, tailored content
  • Minimum seven years professional experience
  • Self-motivator; strong organisational and intra-personal skills are a must
  • Experience working in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign)
  • Experience working in media a plus

  • Teamwork : works well as a member of a team, pitches in to help out others, forward-thinking go-getter; ability to adapt in dynamic settings
  • Client / customer service : understanding of media relations as a service to the office and firm
