To help us with this, we are looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to join us to develop, and then drive BT’s Enterprise Integration architecture across the organisation.
This is a broad Principal Enterprise Architect role covering Cloud application technologies and approaches including Saas, PaaS and other as a Service models that are appropriate.
Experince across architecture domains where you have owned the definition of the strategy and approach from an architecture perspective.
The ability to learn quickly and adapt are key to this role
Driving an Intelligent Business capability understanding complexity, cost, risk and maturity assessment of the current state architecture to meet business outcomes and simplification goals Cloud assessment, adoption, migration and use to drive greate efficiency across the business..
Creating simple and agile architectures that drive clear business value and re-use pan-BT whilst removing cost and legacy from the landscape.
Defining how business process and systems should be managed with BT Group as part of wider BT strategy, paying attention to how Cloud applications can safely interact.
Defining how Cloud Application technologies should be managed within BT Group as part of wider BT strategy, paying attention to defining appropriate approaches to meet the business outcomes.
Developing and maintaining realisable capability based roadmaps spanning a 5 year horizon
Supporting the selection of any IT vendors, suppliers and partners for your area and managing the practice of architecture through these parties where they impact your domain
Driving Enterprise Architecture and supporting business case development of signature ready vehicles that deliver timely, fit for purpose strategic transformations in business capability to senior stakeholders
Maintaining and communicating up-to-date knowledge of approaches, technology standards, industry trends, skills change, and emerging technologies within your area of expertise.
Emerging understanding on Privacy, Ethics, Consent, Transparency and Cyber security implications are going to be a key responsibility area for this role.
Defining how to successfully implement Cloud Applications within this business influencing behaviour change to promote successful adoption of new capabilities acorss the business.
Recognising potential strategic application of emerging information technology capabilities, anticipating global trends .
Initiating and managing investigation and development of innovative methods, practices and technology, with transformational potential for BT.
Maintaining strong stakeholding of vendors and Technical specialists to ensure the architecture is based on industry best practice and drives vendor’s strategic road maps
Promoting, evangelising and agreeing the IT Cloud Application strategy and Architecture across all teams and ensuring there is consensus and understanding across the business for your domain and the landscape
Collaborating and specifying the organisation's vision , goals, opportunities and related activities in order to maximize the business benefits of Enterprise Architecture initiatives to the organisation across your domain.
Championing the use of integration services to drive value internally for efficiency gains, and externally to assist in customer acquisition & retention.
Ensure peers and the Solution Architect community is fully aware of the latest IT strategy and EDA guidance within your Enterprise domain
Working with an innovation community across your domain including BT Research&Innovation, CIO & partners.
Defining company architecture policies for acquiring or developing systems, network equipment, or software within the company for your area.
Responsible for consistency to BT enterprise level standards, best practice and consistency
Ensuring that BT Enterprise Architecture, methods, technology standards and best practices are maintained within your area
Ensuring BT remains compliant to Legal, Regulatory, Privacy and Security requirements
Responsible within own enterprise domain for consistency to enterprise level standards , best practice and development of patterns / policies for re-
use. Ensure EA deliverables are fit for purpose and provide an effective and timely tool to guide downstream decision
Supporting review of budgets and project portfolio investment roadmap to ensure alignment of Enterprise Architecture & the fitness for purpose of IT strategy.

Qualifications and General skills
Customer focused : You will understand customer (internal and external) needs and keep customer satisfaction at the forefront of your work
Data literacy including understanding business models, ecosystems and business model innovation . Understanding of Lean start-
up and agile methods and their implications for Enterprise Architecture
Good understanding of strategic and new emerging technology trends , the practical application of technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
STEM related Bachelor's degree or a related study, or equivalent experience
Technology neutral; remains unbiased towards any specific technology or vendor choice. Displays intellectual curiosity and integrity
Enterprise and Business Architecture
Captures and prioritises market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, and identifies the business benefits of alternative strategies.
Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-
level business models, and preparing business cases
Leads the creation and review of a systems capability strategy that meets the strategic requirements of the business. Develops enterprise-
wide architecture and processes that ensure that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organisation, ensuring the buy-in of all stakeholders.
Develops and presents business cases, for high-level initiatives, for approval, funding and prioritisation. Ensures compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices
IT strategy and planning
Ensures that all stakeholders adhere to IT strategic management approach and timetables. Collates information and creates reports and insights to support IT strategic management processes.
Develops and communicates plans to drive forward the strategy. Contributes to the development of policies , standards and guidelines for IT strategy development and planning
Information systems coordination
Maintains an awareness of the global needs of the organisation, and promotes the benefits that a common approach to information and communications technology deployment will bring to the business as a whole .
Coordinates the promotion, acquisition, development, and implementation of information systems and services in close liaison with those responsible for management and strategy
Prepares pre-qualification questionnaires and tender invitations in response to business cases. Recognises the difference between open source and proprietary systems options.
Produces detailed evaluation criteria for more complex tenders and assists in evaluation of tenders. Acts as the routine contact point between organisation and supplier.
Collects and reports on supplier performance data.
Identifies the communications needs of each stakeholder group in conjunction with business owners and subject matter experts.
Translates communications / stakeholder engagement strategies into specific tasks and has the ability to translate technical terminology and concepts in the business understanding.
Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans.
Negotiates with stakeholders at senior levels, ensuring that organisational policy and strategies are adhered to. Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding
Outcome Based Story-telling : strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences.
Working closely with the relevant CoEs within the business including Dynamic Infrastructure to ensure our Cloud provider services meets business needs.
Experience working with cognitive technologies in the capacity of Architecture 5+ years , including working as an Enterprise Architect in a large complex corporate organisation.
Evidence of leading material business change through Enterprise Architecture
Experience of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks including TOGAF, and their relevance to the practice of Enterprise Architecture.
Experience of Cloud vendors, application models, patterns, techniques and approaches .
Deep understanding of enterprise management, governance and quality control, exploitation strategies for Cloud technologies.
A broad range of business, data, systems and technology architecture experience
Experience of developing long term roadmaps linked to business outcomes with clear understanding of emerging Cloud technologies.
Experience of producing business cases, gaining approval from senior stakeholders and ensuring delivery of business benefits
Practical experience of key suppliers of Cloud and Cloud Application technologies bringing a real-world view of capabilities and opportunities.
