Department

Contracts and Settlements is one of several support functions that enable EDF Trading to tightly control its commercial activities and process a large number of transactions with a wide variety of counterparts.

The department acts as an enabler for the commercial side of the business whilst ensuring effective processes and controls are in place to mitigate operational risk and potential loss whether financial (actual or lost opportunity) or reputational.

Position purpose

The role will primarily be to take ownership of Transaction Reporting processes and ensure that timely, complete and accurate data is delivered in accordance with numerous regulations (EMIR, REMIT and MiFID).

Main responsibilities

  • Daily BAU responsibilities for EMIR and REMIT reporting.
  • Responsible for daily workflow, ensuring that all reportable trades are reported within the regulatory deadlines, so that required regulatory obligations are met.
  • Monitor trade submission error logs, performing root cause analysis when necessary, to ensure that trades are reported within specified timeframes.
  • Liaising and interacting with Front Office, Operations and IT teams to investigate and resolve exceptions.
  • Testing of transaction reporting data for completeness, accuracy and identification of issues.
  • Assess and deliver transaction reporting developments, ensuring changes are in line with regulations.
  • Evaluate current reporting processes in comparison to regulatory guidelines, industry best practices and counterparty data in order to identify gaps and to streamline and automate current processes.
  • Ensuring all processes and procedures are constantly reviewed, documented and updated.
  • Experience required

    Experience of working in a Regulatory / transaction reporting role or exposure to the European trading regulations e.g. EMIR & REMIT (ideally in Gas, Power and Emissions markets).

    You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.

    Person specification

  • Degree level education or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of the regulations EMIR, REMIT, and MiFID.
  • Good working knowledge of trading systems.
  • Experience of using an electronic matching platform, preferably Equias.
  • Exposure to new system implementation and development.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good grasp of Excel.
  • Experience of working in a Transaction Reporting team in an energy trading environment preferred
  • Experience of working with trading counterparties and direct contact with trading desks.
  • Motivated by daily operational processes and the opportunity to develop and refine those processes.
  • Hours of work :

    8.30am 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
