AGCS is undergoing a dynamic shift in its data landscape and is looking to expand its Pricing team to leverage this data to generate new insights in the portfolio performance and pricing analyses.

The Pricing team is part of Portfolio Management at AGCS and is responsible for understanding AGCS portfolios and their performance and for ensuring the pricing tools are calibrated to secure AGCS’s future profitability.

You will join an international team located across London, Munich, Bucharest, Chicago and New York.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Pricing Liability and provide support on pricing topics to the line of business.

You will take an active part in guiding and steering the performance of the portfolios and as part of that will inform appropriate pricing strategies to enable AGCS to meet long-term profit targets.

You will provide advice and tools that enable execution of these strategies and support in the monitoring of outcomes.

  • Perform front-line case pricing to support profitable underwriting activities, by providing technical expertise and insights on individual account level, which will eventually flow into global portfolio steering decisions
  • Design and propose different program structures to control AGCS’ exposure to losses while meeting clients’ needs; participate in meeting with clients and / or brokers when needed
  • Research on new rating variables though tracking market trends and developments, understanding of underwriting consideration evolutions and collaboration with the Predictive Modeling team, thereby improving AGCS’ competitiveness
  • Carry out deep-dive profitability reviews. This will involve preparation of the data and analysis of the profitability of business (sub)segments, as required
  • Ensure that the results of such analyses lead to meaningful portfolio actions and are reflected in the technical pricing models as appropriate
  • Monitor outcomes of the portfolio actions implemented following profitability analyses
  • Develop and maintain pricing tools, in particular, this involves the refinement of the tools through recalibrations and the development of appropriate statistical pricing methodologies
  • Establish an excellent working relationship with the Underwriting teams to ensure their long-term support for technical pricing concepts and pricing tools
  • Support projects which affect the use of technical pricing and promote the use of technical pricing at AGCS
  • Contribute to the development of the Pricing processes
  • Successfully collaborate across the Portfolio Management team and all AGCS departments
  • Understand market developments globally and ensure that loss trends are understood and reflected in our pricing activities
  • Qualified P&C Actuary with significant post qualified experience
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail
  • Experience in front line Liability case pricing strongly preferred
  • Experience in applying statistical methods in case pricing and setting up complex Monte Carlo simulations
  • Experience in the development and data-driven calibrations of pricing tools
  • Ability to work with complicated multi-national data landscape
  • Strong computer and programming skills in, such as, SQL (or similar), VBA, R, Python etc
  • Self-motivated / proactive with natural curiosity to ask probing questions and ensure that those questions lead to appropriate action
  • Partnering mentality with the ability to build strong working relationships with peers, management and the business areas
  • Experienced in discussing technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Results orientated with a proven track-record of delivering on-time projects and process improvements
  • Experience of commercial lines pricing desirable, ideally large corporate and specialty lines
  • Ability to work in an international / virtual environment
  • Fluency in English and preferably in German or French
