Context for the role :

The Procurement & SupplierManagement (P&SR) function reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Thefunction selects and manages third party suppliersfor Prudential UK & Europe, M&G andEnterprise IT.

The aim of the function is to protect the business againstcommercial, operational and regulatory risk whilst delivering value for moneyfor budget holders.

The function will develop, agree and communicate theprocurement strategy andwilldeliverprocurementservices to the organisation includingrunning procurement projects, managing renewals, putting in place effective andappropriate contracts with appropriate suppliers and managing the purchase topayment (P2P) process for supplier invoices.

The Procurement Assistant isresponsible for supporting the Category Managers for the delivery of either theIT or Professional Services, HR and Marketing Category buying activity andCategory Plan.

Purpose statements :

  • Supporting the production of the categorystrategy for indirect spend through the provision of supplier and marketanalysis and insight to inform the category plan
  • Delivering an excellent procurement service tointernal customers and third party suppliers through the management of smallerprocurement projects and supporting Category Managers in delivering largerprocurement projects to support deliver of the category strategy, drivingefficiencies and savings for the business and supporting delivery of businessstrategy and third party supply chain control
  • Point of contact for internal customers andthird party suppliers regarding procurement activity within the category
  • Protecting the business through the reviewing,signature and deployment of fit forpurpose supplier contracts
  • Building strong working relationships with corecentralized teams (such as IT Security, Legal and Financial Crime)
  • Driving continuous improvement for theprocesses utilized within their team and across the Procurement function
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues andtake personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you areresponsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment,customers outcomes and a reduction in Prudential UK’s operational

  • Understanding of the Statements of Principleand Code of Practice
  • Working knowledge of operational, financial& regulatory risk assessment
  • Working knowledge of contract law &drafting and evaluation
  • Detailed knowledge of Q&A checkingprocesses
  • Working knowledge of supplier / market evaluation
  • Working knowledge of Prudential products, systemsand distribution methods
  • Detailed knowledge of MS Office , particularlyWord, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience statements :

  • Some experience of commercial negotiation orcommercial management
  • Experience (up to 3 years) of working in aprocurement / contracts environment preferably in procurement processes & / orSRM tools)
  • Some experience of managing relationships witha range of stakeholders including external suppliers, lawyers, consultants etc.
  • Experience of supplier / market evaluation
  • Some experience of drafting contractsevaluation
  • Experience of managing contract database
  • Experience of conducting first line quality andassurance checks required in respect of contract management
  • Experience of managing MI for departmentalreporting
  • Personal attribute / skills :

  • Essential commercial acumen
  • Essential collaborative approach to buildingrelationships both with suppliers and internally with internal customers andsupport functions (such as Legal)
  • Essential attention to detail with a logicaland methodical approach

  • Qualifications :
