Why this role matters

This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting for MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) & M2M (Machine to Machine) revenues and costs and is also responsible for the billing, settlement, accounting, reporting and forecasting (MVNO Partners : Virgin Mobile, Asda Mobile).

What you'll be doing

  • Operational management of an offshore team of 3 FTE
  • Month End Reporting Working with a range of stakeholders & service providers within both Enterprise and Group Finance to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of revenues and gross margin for MVNO & M2M
  • Financial Control and Compliance Ensuring the robustness of controls across relevant areas of the P&L and Balance sheet and compliance with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley, relevant accounting standards, internal & external Audit
  • Financial Analysis Working with Commercial Finance, MVNO & M2M Client team, Business Assurance and Data / MI teams to review and investigate unexpected variances
  • Budgeting and Forecasting Preparing annual working capital budgets and forecasts and in month P&L flash forecasts
  • Change Management Working closely with commercial and systems change projects to ensure that finance impacts and requirements are captured and delivered
  • Process Improvement Driving a culture of continuous improvement within both own area of accountability and across the wider Commercial Accounting team
  • Billing & settlement Ensuring complete, accurate and timely billing and settlement with MVNO & M2M partners
  • Accountable for stewarding, leading and partnering with the business, ensuring all business activities are carried out in accordance with local legislative requirements, which enhance and protect BT for now and the future

  • Knowledge and experience in finance, covering a breadth of activities and best in class practices and policies ideally from a finance generalist or finance specialist role
  • Advanced financial modelling (excel) skills - ability to build / manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs / metrics to support decision making
  • Ability to understand complex systems
  • Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships
  • Communication skills - translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through both oral and written communication.
  • Ability to tailor message to the relevant audience, distilling key messages without losing the appropriate level of detail

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrable professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast paced matrixed business environment
  • Able to identify issues, get to root causes using financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems
  • Bias towards bold and confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
  • Patience and experience of navigating large, complex organisational structures
  • Able to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management, demonstrating ability to work closely with and partner with the business within a highly complex challenging environment
  • Experienced in financial analysis and the preparation of material to support D, C level / MD decision making
