About the Team :
Tesco Mobile is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and joint venture between O2 (Telefonica UK) and Tesco. Launched in 2003 we have grown rapidly to become the UK s largest MVNO with over 5m customers.
We have a unique position in the market as we benefit from the powerful combination of Tesco’s leading retail estate and massive customer base and O2’s network with 99% UK population coverage.
We’ve now been a Which? Recommended Provider for 9 years running. In 2018 we were awarded "Best Pay Monthly Network", Best Network for Customer Service", Best Value Pay Monthly and "High Street Retailer of the Year" at the uSwitch Awards.
The Data & Analytics team lies at the heart of the business with responsibility for Data Platforms, Business Intelligence / Analytics, and Data Science.
These three areas work closely together to meet requirements from all directorates of the business.
The Data Platform team is the engine room for data within Tesco Mobile, sourcing data from multiple sources and making it available to various teams / systems / third parties around the business for BI / CRM / Data Science and to various BSS systems.
The team also supplies real-time services and looks after the servers within the estate, performing all aspects of DBA activity and data security.
Your Role :
The Data Platform team is primarily concerned with sourcing, managing and providing data. The data comprehensively records customer interactions with the business and helps Tesco Mobile deliver industry-leading customer experience as well as the ability to be innovative and profitable.
You will be undertaking all aspects of the development lifecycle and be experienced in data modelling, process design, development and testing.
Most development will initially be in the form of SQL stored procedures and scripting, with some use of SSIS and QlikView.
With ambitious plans to better exploit the data lake at our disposal by migrating data to an Azure / Databricks environment this is an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of data engineering.
