Job Description Summary

We are looking for Embedded Software Engineer to join the industrial controller design team to develop real-time embedded software used in GE Power Conversion’s Automation & Drive Controller products

In this role you will have the opportunity to :

  • Help develop world leading industrial applications for a wide range of critical power-based industries
  • Investigate and facilitate the implementation of leading-edge embedded technologies and help to define future development strategy.
  • Coordinate with a worldwide team to produce customer solutions.
  • Work on a diverse range of projects and technologies.
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with :

  • BSc / MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related technical field of study and experience in real time embedded software development in industrial automation, control systems, or similar domains.
  • Expert knowledge of C / C++ in a real time embedded environment utilising VxWorks, Linux or a similar RTOS.
  • Good understanding of networks technologies, especially Ethernet based protocols. An appreciation of industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, IEC1588, IEC62439, IEC61850 standards is beneficial.
  • A good appreciation of embedded hardware, especially x86 based systems
  • A good appreciation of general software technology stacks and software engineering principles.
  • An understanding of embedded cyber security standards such as IEC62443 or similar would be beneficial.
  • The ability to develop using current software methodologies such as Agile and utilize tools such as JIRA and help drive continuous process improvement.
  • The ability to self-motivate and have practical experience of driving product and system development.
  • Good communication skills to develop and present ideas to wider audience.
  • Good problem solving, organizational and self-management skills
