We are currently recruiting a Senior Manager who will be responsible for the continued advancement of Operational Excellence and lean transformation across the Hull site, particularly focusing on the shop floor.
This role will have key focus on achieving world-class results in safety, quality, delivery and cost as well as responsibility for building and maintaining a culture of continuous operational improvements that permeates the site
Essential Job Functions :
The role will be responsible for the following key aspects :
Kaizen : Create a culture of continuous improvement through kaizen. Drive stepwise improvements in safety, quality, cost and delivery through kaizen events while harnessing the power of daily kaizen
Manufacturing Processes : Ensure site is implementing the appropriate lean methodologies, e.g. VSM, standard work, pull systems, SMED, TPM, cellular manufacturing, 3P etc.
to maximize productivity, capacity and throughput while minimizing lead time and WIP
Transactional Processes : Ensure all departments within the site are implementing the appropriate lean tools, e.g. VSM, Transactional Process Improvement, variance reduction, etc.
to maximize productivity and minimize lead-time in the front and back office areas
Vision / Strategy : Ensure the definition and development of the site operational strategy. Lead the development of the site operational excellence plan in support of the overall strategy
Problem Solving : Instil a culture of problem solving throughout the site. Ensure that every level within the site utilizes the proper problem solving methodology following the PDCA cycle.
Application of problem solving spans from the 5 whys to Six Sigma Black Belt initiatives.
Culture : Ensure site establishes a proper governance and roadmap to accelerate the transformation of the operations leveraging the implementation of the Smith & Nephew operating system including tier meetings, business control centres, standardized metrics, etc.
Profitability and Growth : Lead efforts to identify and implement opportunities that will enhance profitability and growth for the site
Best in Class Team : Establish and grow a highly talented OpEx team within the site. Select, develop, lead and coach the team with the goal of meeting / exceeding targeted goals.
Process-Orientation : Identify and implement best in class lean processes and business intelligence to further enhance the pursuit of excellence
Strong, demonstrable lean deployment in a manufacturing setting is required
Experience in leading the transformation of a manufacturing site through implementation lean methodologies while achieving targeted P&L savings
Previous experience in leading OpEx initiatives across an entire manufacturing site
Experience leading the implementation of lean management while spearheading the change management process at a site
Previous experience in medical device or pharmaceutical company is preferred.
Demonstrable knowledge of, and familiarity with, all TPS / Lean and Six Sigma tools including but not limited to : VSM, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, Cellular Manufacturing, Lean Management, 5S / Visual Management, 3P, SMED, TPM, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction & Six Sigma.
Black Belt certification is desirable but not required
Significant experience working with all levels of the organization and possess platform skills, presence, and confidence
Demonstrated success influencing cultural change
Possesses business acumen and a basic understanding of the P&L and balance sheet
Experience in identifying key opportunities that drive financial performance for an organization.
Demonstrated the execution of a company / operational strategy at a site basis, while providing linkages to performance of day-to-day operations
Exhibiting professional behaviour with both internal / external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices
